Whats on your turntable tonight?

For me its the first or very early LP's of:
Allman Brothers - "Allman Joys" "Idyllwild South"
Santana - "Santana" 200 g reissue
Emerson Lake and Palmer - "Emerson Lake and Palmer"
and,
Beethoven - "Piano Concerto No. 4 in G Major" Rudolph Serkin/Ozawa/BSO
slipknot1
Recent arrivals:

Cat Stevens "Mona Bone Jakon"
A&M/stereo/sealed/pp
Shannon & The Clams "Year of the Sider"

Death Can for Cutie "The Blue EP"
Monte Ballou And His New Castle Jazz Band – They’re Moving Willie’s Grave To Dig A Sewer (G.H.B. 1986)

Wonderful 50s Portland West Coast Dixieland old-style happy jazz.
David Sylvian – Secrets Of The Beehive (Virgin 1987)

Still sounds fresh. Solid.
+1 for "Secrets of the beehive"

Wooden Wand & The Vanishing Voice / Buck dharma
This pair of bands is very different. Vanishing Voice is just plain weird & Wooden Wand is almost alt. country. How they got together to complete at least two albums is beyond me (maybe I'll google it sometime). Anyway, this release is even weirder than "Gipsy Freedom" from them, but I enjoy it nonetheless :-)
Marvin Gaye  "What's Goin On"  This still fits with the times.  Some things just never seem to change.

Tania Maria  "Forbidden Colors"  It was someone here that advised me on this one after I had listed that I had listened to another of her albums (which I have had since it was released in the mid 80s).  The music is wonderful and this is a superb production of SQ.  Audiophile quality, and I got it for $4 and it looks as though it has never been played.  Best deal of the year for me.

The Moody Blues  "To Our Children's Children's Children"
The Moody Blues  "In Search of the Lost Chord"
I wish these albums sounded as good as the Tania Maria album.  But the music is to my liking and they still sound pretty good.  I saw the Moody Blues 3 times, I'm quite the fan.
@boxer12 streaming Gipsy Freedom
by The Vanishing Voice and Wooden Wand.
Well, that was unexpected. Interesting. Not at all like JJT on his own.
The Rolling Stones / Sticky Fingers
The Rolling Stones / Some Girls
Frank Sinatra / only the lonely

Congrats Jim.  Keep up the progress and get well, 100%.
PT is a bitch, but it absolutely necessary to regain your mobility and strength.
Jim,
Glad you are healing up well!

Brian,
I couldn't agree more. Toth on his own is much different... even handed & civilized for the most part. When he gets with "Vanishing Voice" it is more of a free for all. I do like it however.

Bardo Pond / Volume II
A 2021 RSD release
Streaming Secrets of the Beehive.   Was never on the same page as bands like Japan but this guys solo work (totally unknown to me) seems really nice.   This record features Ryuichi Sakamoto, who I’ve become very interested lately.   Wow, thanks Brian for posting this record.  Really fine album.

David Sylvian
Dead Bees on a Cake

features Bill Frisell, Kenny Wheeler, and Ryuichi Sakamoto. Excellent!

The four 12AX7 Dynaco/Telefunken’s arrived today for the Hagerman Trumpet. Very nice indeed. Played an LP a few minutes with the Gold Lion’s I had in, then installed the Dynaco/Tele’s. Nice improvement right out of the gate in comparison. Silky smooth, airy, and detailed with an open stage. The Gold Lion’s sounded a bit grainy in comparison. And they sounded pretty darn good.

Nice.

Thanks @noromance for the help.
Joe Williams And Thad Jones, Mel Lewis, The Jazz Orchestra – Presenting.. S/T (Solid State 1968)

Joe’s got a voice not unlike Sinatra but with more bass. Gem.

Interestingly, they use "solid state equipment throughout" (and Tele U-47 mics.) You can tell. Tight and fast and somewhat dry with some grain. No depth with a flat wall of sound.
Richards Piano Quartet : Martinů - Piano Quartet No. 1 & Chausson - Piano Quartet In A Major Op. 30. With Nona Liddell violin, Jean Stewart viola, & Bernard Richards cello. L'Oiseau-Lyre 1970, UK release. Pretty nice.

Thomas Dolby – Aliens Ate My Buick (EMI-Manhattan 1988)

So I generally play this on the Spendors/REL S3 rig. So tonight I heard so much more from this album on the main ESL system. Blown away.
Benjamin Britten conducts Britten - Symphony For Cello And Orchestra, Op.68 & Haydn - Concerto In C For Cello And Orchestra. English Chamber Orchestra With Mstislav Rostropovich cello. London 1964
