For me its the first or very early LP's of: Allman Brothers - "Allman Joys" "Idyllwild South" Santana - "Santana" 200 g reissue Emerson Lake and Palmer - "Emerson Lake and Palmer" and, Beethoven - "Piano Concerto No. 4 in G Major" Rudolph Serkin/Ozawa/BSO
Preamplifier is out for repair in my main system so I have been enjoying CD’s on my office system. Old pair of JPW bookshelf speakers sound pretty good.
Szell conducts Mendelssohn - Incidental Music To "A Midsummer Night's Dream," Op. 61 & Schubert - Incidental Music To "Rosamunde". The Cleveland Orchestra. Columbia Masterworks reissue, guessing early 70’s. Originally 1967
Karajan conducts Brahms - The Four Symphonies. Berlin Philharmonic Orchestra. Deutsche Grammophon 4LP box, reissued 1974. Originally 1965. German release
yes, thank you. That was quite a surprise when opening my email Saturday morning, looking over my Audiogon emails, and seeing my modest system featured.
Jim @tomic601 is also a Vandy fan. He has my 2CE Sigs beat by a mile 😁 But I still love them. In fact, listening last night, I was wondering why everyone doesn’t own Vandersteen’s they sounded so good.
Speaking of Vandersteen I visited my local audio store this weekend and their main room features the Vandersteen Model 7's with a high end VTL Power Amp and Preamp and a Linn LP12 among other things. Way out of reach for my budget but it sure was impressive to hear.
With that said I couldn't be happier with my far less expensive system. At least for now but the Vandy's are here to stay.
I am super blessed, took some risks in a long happy career that paid off. Many moons ago in a galaxy… I sold Vandersteen ( and ADS, Infinity, Wilson, Acoustat, Quad, Soundlab.. KEF u get the picture ). Was super blessed around 2010 to rekindle a deep interest in Vandy.
gratitude is everything and I love listening to other systems, I always always learn something and it usually Spurs creativity and improvement.
no matter what Vandy you own, the dna of the 7 is in there….
I love this thread because it seems to be music lovers first :-)
@tomic601.. I have the original Treo prior to the CT updates and couldn’t be more pleased at how great they sound in my roughly 14 x 14 listening room. Vandersteen makes a great speaker at all levels. Two of my friends and neighbors also have Vandersteen’s and they sound great in each of our very different systems.
The Babys "Broken Heart' I got the idea to play this album from this thread, a few days ago.
R.E.M. "Murmur"
Talking Heads "Speaking In Tongues" The SQ on this reissue is great!
Procol Harum "A Salty Dog" I got this back in 1973 or 74. Awesome album but too bad the grade of vinyl and pressing is not so great. I'm going on a fishing trip next week so I thought to play A Salty Dog. I hope to catch my "limit" of bluefin tuna.
My SL-1200 MK2 is sounding better than I thought possible. I have the Soundsmith Aida II on it playing through the Herron VTPH-2A and it sounds wonderful. DJ table my ___.
