@spiritofradio,

James, your new genre..."newgrass" may be a thing buddy.
.

Hope I don't ruin the thread but if I suggested an album and you hadn't already heard of jd beck, you might just think this was a fusion jazz band with a drum machine:  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NCnrYD9HaRg (song 2 is where he shows what he's capable of).

Plus my system is dismantled for house showings, so I'm stuck on the computer...

Steve - I am headed to Seattle Monday w a least one Magic brick, will email ya buddy.
glad SOTA motor is working out with yet another possibility for upwards sonics !!!! I will ask Donna what level of motor I have, I don’t notice any clogging. For what it’s worth, Basis may have the most precise belt.... on my list to try....

The Eclipse package includes the Condor PSU & the Tachometer.

When you manually turn the pulley, you don't feel any click
Steve, you are the turntable wizard.  Cool to hear about your improvements and exploits. The mechanics are beyond my comprehension: My approach to the whole thing is to act in faith and is probably lacking in self reliance.  As such, I may be missing out on some of the potential rewards but in the listening there is still true spiritual benefit.  Glad to hear about and learn a little of the finer points from you all on this thread.  Thanks.

I love everything about this record.

Jim,

I remember reading about the Basis belt years ago....never occurred to me that they may make belts for tts other than their own.

I have had excellent results with Origin Live belts on my Rock 7.

Just received in the mail. This was a studio remake of Leo’s first (with a couple more additional songs), mostly live album called ‘12 String Blues’, which I have. I remember a friend had this album years ago, but have never compared it to the earlier/first album I’ve had for years....so...will be interesting, but nice to have in my collection regardless.

Brian, how does Circle Round the Sun compare? I’ve always loved his early finger picking instrumentals and my first guitar was a 12-string bought largely because of the influence of a guy I knew who could cover LK et. al. in that style.
@spiritofradio

It’s good. I like it. I read where his vocals on Circle were ‘saturated’. Maybe, a little, but not very noticeable to me. A bit more ‘laid back’ studio vibe.

Now, I do have a soft spot for his first, ‘12 String Blues’ (only 1,000 copies, so I consider myself lucky, and purchased it used way back in the day, cheap). The SQ is actually pretty good for being recorded in a coffee shop, but there is an energy Leo has live that is hard to replicate in the studio. That’s part of it, plus he has a great sense of humor, especially with his audience. All that said, I’m happy to have both.

I saw him in a small club in the mid 70’s, and it was incredible. You don’t get a real sense for his 12 string talent until you see him at work. I sat there astounded trying to figure out how he did what he did with only 10 fingers.
yes, Leo might be God. I enjoy his liner notes also.

James I got the Marvels disc on order, every Blue Note Tone Poet release so far has been great ! March 12.... Thanks for heads up !!!!
Vladimir Ashkenazy conducts Strauss - Ein Heldenleben. The Cleveland Orchestra. London 1985.

My second spin of this. Love this performance. Have it on CD, but the vinyl, wonderful.
@slaw Lucero is also great live!  Saw them last fall before the pandemic in a nice little venue for a couple hundred people.  A couple I'm friends with have probably seen them 50 times.
Dorati conducts Haydn - Symphony #103 ‘Drum Roll’ & Symphony #104 ‘London’. Philharmonia Hungarica. London reissue 1979, originally  1974.
@tomic601  Jim, let’s compare listening notes in March then.  Safe travels.
@bkeske  Brian, I’m focusing on a 12-string extravaganza.   Kottke idea from you planted the seed, thanks.

I never saw him live, only on TV.  But to us knuckleheaded metal obsessed, pimple faced adolescents we had total respect for his playing abilities.  Cool that you caught on to different kinds of good music relatively early on.   It took me a while.  When I wasn’t playing in school bands I was usually listening to Sabbath or something...
