Jim, that Pretenders title was out of print and they have done another run. It’s currently in Big Timber, Montana according to FedEx. Some time next week...
There was also a recent hi-res release that sounds fantastic.
BTW, that's cool you scored Mayall tickets. I'd love to see him.

Steve,
From a music standpoint they are very similar with the main difference being that he allowed the songs in "Lubbock" to jam a little more (some longer songs / less polished for sure) than on "Moby Dick". From a SQ standpoint, Moby Dick is as close to a 10 as almost any in my collection, where Lubbock is a solid 7. The one I like best is the one I'm playing at the time 🤙.

George Harrison - Dark Horse. Apple 1974

@slaw I have the MFSL as well as US and Euro O/P and none of them sound great
|
Mark Knopfler - Kill to get Crimson - noisy vinyl
|
Buying a copy of Katy Lied on MFSL on vinyl at a record show for RT $70 years ago ok, was a bad deal.
|
Iron Butterfly "Heavy"
1969/Atco/pp
Super nice pressing, sounds just as quiet as the new vinyl I'm getting in now .

|
B.O.C - Cultosaurus Erectus
|
|
@dayglow there is a published article by Denny Dias on why Katy Lied sounds like crap because of a glitch in DBX noise reduction system
|
@slaw I ordered it from Amazon about 9 days ago and it shipped, from Italy, to my door in about 6 days, kinda surprised me.
The vinyl quality is disappointing

Classics IV-The Very Best Of Side 1
Scott Hamilton-ST(CJ-42)barcode Side 1
Rod Stewart-Every Picture Tells A Story Side 2 SQ Audiophile
Freddie Hubbard-Super Blue Side 1 SQ Audiophile
Shirley Bassey-In Person Side B
Van Morrison-His Band And The Street Choir(barcode) Side 1
Art Blakey/Messengers-Jazz Corner Vol.2(1972 Blue Note) Side 1 SQ*
Steely Dan-Katy Lied Side 1 SQ*
With the exception of Classics IV and Shirley Bassey the other recordings were above average in SQ. Super Blue had a a very big sound(Bernie Grundman) only surface noise(tape hiss) was a flaw. (I Know) I'm Losing You is a great rock demo song!!! *The 1972(repress) Blue Note captured the "live" Blue Note sound and was very enjoyable. Katy Lied is a tough recording to judge it sounds great and average at the same time! The bass and PRAT are audiophile quality. The problem in my system is a midrange veil and soft treble attack. This is an original 1975 ABC pressing could be system dependent? A Japanese pressing might have more forward mids and upper frequency energy?
