Whats on your turntable tonight?

For me its the first or very early LP's of:
Allman Brothers - "Allman Joys" "Idyllwild South"
Santana - "Santana" 200 g reissue
Emerson Lake and Palmer - "Emerson Lake and Palmer"
and,
Beethoven - "Piano Concerto No. 4 in G Major" Rudolph Serkin/Ozawa/BSO
slipknot1

although i am hoping for a T1 line and Qobuz on the beach…

It’s good to dream big, Brother!

I can listen to 2 songs (well, that come to mind) drone on and on, Terrapin Station and Neil Young’s Be The Rain (Greendale). I am a simple man. :-)

Thanks Bill - I’ve decided to add Whale Meat to my want list for sure.

I was a Dead outkast for singing the praises for Terrapin…i consider it a work of collaborative genius and on my desert island disc list for sure..although i am hoping for a T1 line and Qobuz on the beach…

MJ - Thriller.  I recently picked up a new copy because this one looked kind of beat up.  I should have stuck with this one, it sounds great, at least so far.

@mammothguy54 👍👍

I have Careful, but not the third. I’m surprised at the SQ, I hadn’t listened to this LP in a while. Brothers iin MD infatuation! 😂😂

Aerosmith / Get Your Wings
1974 CBS

@bslon  I recently picked up that Motels S/T album.  Fantastic music and really good SQ.  I have 3 Motels albums and they are all tremendous.  Glad you got to see them.  Even though I did not, I too am infatuated with Martha Davis.

Motels / S-T
1979 Capitol

i saw them in ‘79 in a small venue, close enough to Martha Davis to smell her perfume. Infatuation ever since. Me, probably not Martha. 😁

@boxer12  Thanks Tim.  I have both a Canadian and UK pressing of “Another Green World”.  By far the UK pressing is the better version.

Hey James,

I have not heard: Black Country, New Road - “For The First Time”, but will check them out. Thanks for the recommendation!

Michael Mantler “No Answer” Watt 1974

Brian Eno “Another Green World” Island Canada 1975

...deadicated to Vlad the Putin, a song about another murder madman....

...appropriate, imho, odd as it may seem....:(

Hi Jim, 1974 Island Records ILPS9254 shows on the label. Nothing on the dead wax.

Dire Straits / Love Over Gold
1892 Warner Bros.

Like other DS LPs I have (all OP), fabulous sonics.

@spiritofradio  - Hey James. That David Hepworth - "Deep 70's" mix has some great songs on it. A couple of my favorites - Andy Pratt - "Avenging Annie" and The Records - "Starry Eyes". I like Joan Armatrading - "Down to Zero" but I really like Bettye Lavette's later take on it. Check it out...

@bslon Bill - What pressing of Whalemeat ? streaming it..but surfing discogs….

thx

Jim

Black Country, New Road - “For The First Time”

Thought I’d try something new and this turned out to be really quite good. Might be sorta like Black Midi. Great rhythms. Great lyrics. @boxer12 Do you know this Tim? You might especially enjoy it.

”I am invincible in these sunglasses”

Grateful Dead / Terrapin Station
1977 Arista
I remember a 70’s outdoor summer concert near Eugene when they played Terrapin Station. It seemed like it went for hours, I didn’t mind. It could’ve gone longer.

Paul Simon - One Trick Pony  very good SQ, thanks to the "heads-up" from Dayglow, I picked this up on Discogs.  Great album!

Cat Stevens - Tea For The Tillerman  This has been a favorite of mine since it was first released.

Miles Davis - Kind Of Blue  I got this last year, Analogue Productions/QRP issue on UHQR.  The best sounding issue of this iconic album.

On my way to Mammoth Mountain in the morning.  3 days of skiing over the rest of this week.  Enjoy the music, guys.

@tomic601 thanks, I'll be happy finding either JJ version.

Too bad Aimee's new one is analog-hampered. I'm hoping she does a full album collab w/Phoebe Bridgers. Check out their video.

Brahms /  Heifetz, Piatigorsky, Wallenstein Conducting RCA Victor Symphony Orchestra ‎– Brahms Concerto For Violin And Cello (RCA Living Stereo) My favorite of a number of recent classical bin dive purchases

The Cleveland Orchestra / George Szell – Symphony No. 7 In C Major
(Epic)

Milt Jackson - Barney Wilen - Percy Heath - Kenny Clarke – Jazz Sur Seine
(Sam Records)

Jim Capaldi / Whale Meat Again
1974 Island
Capaldi on his own during some down time with Traffic, great SQ here.

Tonight's the night - Neil Young

Alone together - Dave Mason

There's one in every crowd - EC

American Aquarium "Live @ Terminal West"  2016

Gregory Alan Isakov "With The Colorado Symphony"  2016

(SuitcaseTownMusic)

My experience same as Bill’s.  Lady Blackbird deep black tickless black acid soul. Love Amy’s new mental health material but noisy record.  Amy’s vocals sound ok I guess. You’re right @bslon - Should have saved that one for the streamer…

My pressings of both were good, Lady B is super quiet although that could just be the “ crush “ effect. I jumped on Aimee disc because of the crazy $ for her older stuff….. i must have got lucky….

Hey James, we shoulda saved our $$ and gone with streaming this one. I like supporting a favorite artist but…
In the same package I got that Lady Blackbird LP which is very well done, no complaints there.

‘til tuesday / VOICES CARRY
1985 Epic

Aimee Mann, vocals and bass. Quieter vinyl and way better SQ than QotSH.
