Whats on your turntable tonight?

For me its the first or very early LP's of:
Allman Brothers - "Allman Joys" "Idyllwild South"
Santana - "Santana" 200 g reissue
Emerson Lake and Palmer - "Emerson Lake and Palmer"
and,
Beethoven - "Piano Concerto No. 4 in G Major" Rudolph Serkin/Ozawa/BSO
slipknot1

@noromance

Ya know, I did the same, but my LP’s obviously got a lot of use, as they do now. Back then they were simply another necessity like cigarettes, coffee, pot, beer, and underwear 😁 Oh, and girls.

After unboxing these after years, and obviously collecting many many more, I now treat them with the respect I did not back then.

Lost Nation String Band – Lost Nation String Band (Dodo 1982)

...

@bkeske Got it. Wasn’t sure if you’d scored a bunch from Goodwill! Just kidding. I’ve hauled boxes of albums (from back the day) from apartment to apartment over the years. Always took great care of them. Should’ve taken better care of moi aussi.

Little Village - S/T. Rhino/Reprise reissue 2019, originally 1992. Nick Lowe/Jim Keltner/John Hiatt/Ry Cooder. Blue vinyl to match the MIMC

@sbank My daughter works with Jenny Lewis and Kacey Musgraves on tour.

She has had them both to the house. Nice folks.

@noromance

Brian, I have to ask due to inate curiosity. You've a bunch of album pics there with a lot of ring wear on the covers. Look like a Good/Good+. What's up with that?

🙂 All my originals, most from over 40 years ago. Used in racks when I didn’t even think of using exterior sleeve protection. I have them all in sleeves now though, regardless. That isn’t always reflective of the vinyl grade though.

Renata Tebaldi – Selections From The World’s Greatest Operas (United Artists 1962 mono)

This is wonderful. If your table can track the last cut on side 1, Giordano's La Momma Morta, without distortion, you're golden.

The Byrds - Sweetheart of the Rodeo. Columbia reissue 1972, originally 1968

Man, I’m psyched. This LP was recently released on vinyl as a 4 LP set. I have it on cassette and CD, and so looking forward to this on vinyl. IMO, this may be the best Jerry recording ever. Found it on Discogs for a very good price new and sealed.

@bkeske  it’s a beautiful record.  Yarling records are treasures.  Silent vinyl.  Don’t need to tell you about the performance if you can stream it but I was thrilled by it.

@spiritofradio

James, that Korppoo Trio Sibelius LP looks interesting.

Can’t find it on Tidal unfortunately. Oh wait, did find it under Sibelius Piano Trio.

Loreena McKennitt "To Drive the Cold Winter Away"

1987/Quinlan Road Limited

The Flying Burrito Brothers "Burrito Deluxe"

ELO - A New World Record

TP - Damn the Torpedos

After everything's warmed up gonna spin UHQR Jimi for the first time

I'm down to the "Can't pack these for moving until the last minute" mini-collection.

Great Final Four games tonight.

@mammothguy54

I’m right there with you on the monthly album budget. Going through my long list of wants to determine the handful that will make the month.

While the MSFL 33 RPM Eldorado is by no means cheap it’s a heck of a lot less expensive than the MSFL One-Step releases that I can't justify. Especially when I look at some of my original records still in shrink with a $3.99 sticker.

@j_husker

Thanks! Looking forward to them, that is for sure. At least I now have a back-up amp should another failure happen (knock on wood).

@noromance

It’s what I remember. I actually have spun it within the last year of so. It’s one of those albums that has a handful of good songs, and many that don’t do much for  me, (the SQ varies some too). It might have something to do with her voice on a couple tracks. I picked that up years ago bin diving at my fav used record store. If there was an unknown band, and they were from the San Francisco area at the time, I would most always pick it up to check out.

And yea, thanks re: the monos. More fun after a loss. There is always another corner….
