@j_husker Nice choice on the Feickert TT. I got a Feickert TT as well, about 5 months ago. Really, the best TT I have ever owned, by far.

I love hearing about you guys making the upgrades and enjoying the fun ride doing so. My most recent upgrade, turntable/tonearm/cartridge, nearly 5 months ago, has been a complete joy. New speakers are estimated to arrive about late June. Ultimately, I will upgrade my phono stage, too. Lots of fun, but very expensive doing these upgrades.
B.B King - Deuces Wild Geffen/UMe This is a great double LP album with special guest star musicians for each song. SQ is really good, too.
Love - Forever Changes Reissue, Warner Music Group, made in Germany. So nostalgic, so good, and very good SQ.
Jethro Tull - A Passion Play I got this when it first came out, in 1973. Hard to believe I have had it for 49 years and it is still perfect. That was just after my first real hi-fi system so it has always been played on a good TT and cartridge. Great album, love it, and it sounds quite good.
Pretenders - S/T Nautilus Super Disc. Fantastic album of music, but disappointing SQ. Maybe the original recording was just so-so and this was the best that Nautilus could do. I have had this since, I believe, 1982.

Kenny Burrell-Up The Street, 'Round The Corner, Down The Block 1974 Fantasy
After the two volumes of Blue Lights this is my favorite (of a considerably large collection) KB to spin.
Side note, about three weeks into Feickert Volare ownership and can say pretty confidently I’m done swapping tables.

The recent equipment swaps have me rethinking several things.
|
@slaw Yes, I get it and am on the fence wondering if I want to pay for an overpriced (imo) tonearm swap or put it into a different player. Or (most likely) do nothing. But wait— upgrading equipment is so much fun! 😁

I got in another lp order from an unlikely place. Morrow Audio has a record shop now. What impressed me was several lps I had previously given up on for the time being were there. One stop shopping! No shipping/tax to N C.

Yeah Bill. I have and I was following the thread here regarding switching to that arm. Part of me has had issues with VPI and part of me because of this is leaning in another direction. The Moerch DP 8 that I already own. Why not?

Steve, had you considered the 10” gimbal fatboy with Nordost wiring? It’s $450 off now at Music Direct.

In a quest to aquire additional components for another system, I ran across this, ( Audia Flight FL Phono and a SPL Volume 2) to test out in my current system. Have plans to try out a passive as well.
Currently auditioning a new phono cable for the VPI. Decided not to have that 3D arm rewired. It's a Zavfino The Highlands MKII.

@hedgehog +1 on Robin Trower - For Earth Below OP. One of my first records. Very nice.

They do not make recordings like this anymore. Most modern recordings sound grey, veiled and muddy compared to the clarity and resolution of this. Silent vinyl too.

@tgilb I also have a very early pressing A Passion Play, it sounds really good, always has. You got me thinking to play it in the next few days.

Kevin Gray mastered some of the early Byrds mono reissues for Sundazed and they are excellent. The copies I have were also pressed at QRP. Really good.

Allan Taylor – Sometimes (United Artists 1971)
System sounds fast, incisive, clean and blacker tonight.

Joyce Collins Quartet Featuring Jack Sheldon, Chuck Domanico And Jim Plank – Moment To Moment (Discovery 1981)
Worth checking out. Excellent music and recording.

I've been trying to get their mono remasters from the original tapes by the great mastering engineers. Seems like the best and most economical way to get the mono stuff.
|
I don't have too many Sundazed releases and I've seen mixed reviews on them but I've had good luck with everything I have from them.
|
+2 on the Sundazed mono @tgilb

@tgilb +1 Ten Years After and earlier GFR S/T “red album” 👍

Ten Years After - S/T
1967/2017 Sundazed/Deram Mono Reissue
Sundazed with Cohearent Audio and RTI did a great job on this reissue. Great SQ and separation of the instruments.
