What's with the buyers these days??

It seems that recently more and more buyers.. well just suck. I seems to be that more and more people will make an offer that I accept and then I have to email multiple times to get them to pay...

To the question "What's your best price" my answer is fairly simple: "I've listed it at my best price. I'm not interested in negotiating against myself, so please make me a reasonable offer and I'll consider it"

Seems to help weed out the tire kickers..
I have been on this over 15 years now ...and it has changed a lot. It used to be people bought pieces enjoy their music with and enjoy talking about the hobby, now it seems how low can I buy it at to flip it and make a profit on it.
MRVORDO - I think the WORST question I get is "What's your lowest price?". Really? The ad has a price and a Make Offer button. Why would you ask someone that?

Welcome to car business, people do it ALL THE TIME :-). Most of them don't buy anyway, they just don't know what else to say.
Essential, that's exactly what I do. Ask them what they have in mind, or suggest that they just make an offer and see where it goes. Most of these people though never respond in anyway at all after their "how low" question.
When I get that question first hour, I always respond that I'm not ready to lower asking price yet.
" .... I seems to be that more and more people will make an offer that I accept and then I have to email multiple times to get them to pay..."

= buyers that are just time wasting bottom-feeders
"While I hate the what's the lowest price question, in reality I usually do have a good idea what the lowest price would be if it doesn't sell in a few weeks...but I often get that question a few hours after the ad is listed..."

I only hate it when I'm the seller.

Sounds pretty good from the other end.

Having recently sold a car, I was reminded of what I already
knew: There is a HUGE gap between someone saying they want
something and actually writing the check. Lot's of people want
things, but very few actually buy.
What's your lowest price?
Answer is, the price that I accept. I usually just tell those folks to, "make an offer."

I would much rather answer the question,
If I offer you $X, will you accept?
I usually answer that question right away because I respect that a serious buyer doesn't want their offer tied up for 48 hours. It is not unusual that I have the offer/acceptance agreed upon before the formal offer is made by the buyer.
Theduke, if you want to negotiate maybe the best thing to do is ask what price the buyer has in mind, which you can accept or deny. Mrvordo, you might also try this, or simply not reply.
Ten years ago this site was a great place for hobbyists to by, sell or trade gear. Those days are gon for good. Progress marches on but it ain't always pretty.
A lot of sellers aren't much better. I've sent questions, and made offers to several Sellers lately and received absolutely no response. You would think if the ad is still up that they would at least respond if the item is sold.

I get inquiries asking if I can do better on the price. When I do give a lower price, they disappear.
