Up to date list of GaN Class D Amplifiers?

I’ve not heard one yet, but looking forward to seeing how this develops.

Does anyone have a list of Amplifiers currently on the market using this Gallium Nitride (GaN) semi conductor?

Anyone heard one?
Is it really a game changer?
Is GaN likely to reach the mass market?

Thanks

Not yet

I believe so, when you read what listeners thought especially the Technics SE-R1 which utilizes the faster 1.5mHz switching speed and higher filter available to GaN users, instead of Mosfet with 3 x lower switching speed and filter to get rid of it. https://ibb.co/vkSGqbV

Eventually it will, but it will always be headed by the smaller boutique manufacturers, and be expensive at first, as they don’t have $$$$$$$$$K tied up in the tooling of the older technology, like the big boys have. Once they get onto to it the prices will crash back down.

Cheers George

There are several coming out ,but the prices are just nuts, the GAN circuits are not that expense to command say from $10 k to $20 k+
markup as I have stated many times being involved with R&D  ,my uncle being a Audio engineer, and markup is at least 4x or more which the parts cost.
when . Just like when new computer technologies come out it is way over priced
give it a few years much  more reasonable . Let’s see in 3-4 years.

You would think the 4X is an easy formula to go by.  That does not include the chassis, box, manual, going to shows, advertising.  If I went by the 4X rule, I would not make a penny in what I do.

Happy Listening.

See Voyager GaN amp, to be released very soon MSRP $2500!

I will be comparing it soon to my ,much loved EVS1200 class D from Ric Schultz ~ $2400

Yes, maybe and yes.
GaNFETs are pretty cheap nowadays so anyone can design a circuit using them inexpensively.

But MOSFETs aren't out of the game yet; some of the newer ones are easily able to switch at the same speeds as GaNFETs currently in use.

What’s the latest news on GaN FET in 2022?

Are they coming down in price?

Has GaN fixed the issues associated with Class D?

Ive had the LSA Voyager 350 GaN amp for about 1 and half years. It responds to every upgrade Ive done to my system. Most notably Mad Scientist Graphene Contact Enhancer

Thanks @twoleftears

Have you heard that amp?   Is it any good?

I’m in UK.   There’s a Hifi show coming up later this month.   Hoping to hear some GaN amps there.

A/AB

DONT make the mistake. Sure they work, play loud, but there is no soul, or goosebumps. Every time I warm up my amp, I get goosebumps and hair stands up on arms, and my head gets tingly.

Never had that with anything other than A or AB amps.
make sure to demo them in your house if possible.

Even Carvers Sunfire at class H smokes many of this so called class D miracle audio.   The Devialet was a joke when I brought my Sunfire 600 to my audio shoppe. The Thor? Is it? Monos, played loud yes, didn’t get hot, the sound, tone, midrange was just sloppy with no heart while playing the CDs I brought in to play. I was very interested, as the weight, etc, would have been a huge plus for my wrinkly  old arse. Used a very good pre, source and speakers as I remember, but it just was flat, no,emotion, no goosebumps, no double take when songs were played.

I’m sure your experience was better,as your ready to reach for the checkbook.

make sure you listen a lot before dumping a ton of cash on class D.

cheers

@tweak1 sorry, missed your post.

That LSA looks to be US only.  I’ve got no chance to hear it here in UK.
