There are few other designs from Ikea also.
I also have used the "LittLite": http://littlite.com/

I use this one: black clip light It is cheap and small (wish it was even smaller). Plus, I usually don't like LED light colors and they can be expensive. |
RE the ikea lamps. I use the same one as the first post for my TT. It work really well when you angle it to be perpendicular with the surface of the record. You see all the dirt and any defects. The down side is that the power supply is noisy, so it is only on when setting up a record. When music is playing the light is off. I have the version with a heavy base. The base sits behind and kind of underneath the TT. As for the Tived model, I have a floor standing version which I use as a reading light. However, the power supply is really a piece of junk, the light flickers all the time. Is great if I am listening to dance music! Not so much for reading. One of these days I will replace the PS. |
Old thread, but I recently purchased this from Menards of all places.... It's made in China (what isn't?). Not the highest quality build, but it has a dimmer and is nicely shaped. I have seen a very similar light by Redleaf Audio (might actually be the same source manufacturer), but it is twice the price. |
Old thread. A lot of good suggestions. Thought I would add my two cents, as I was shopping for a turntable light recently and could not find much recent discussion. I purchased one from Amazon (linked below) and was really pleasantly surprised at how well made, flexible, and solid it is. Really looks nice too.

The Reliable UberLight has been getting a lot of audiophile buzz lately. No suction cup but it's got a clamp or a round base as options. I got a round base one in black and like it a lot. My ONE complaint is that its "off" switch is to hold DOWN the power button for 3 freaking sections. Look, I'm already missing the first couple musical grooves because I'm trying to avoid clipping a multi-$K stylus with the ring clamp, then I gotta dive back into seating, un-Mute, and adjust volume. I don't need to miss a couple more grooves because of a damn 3-second power button! |
