My question is did you make a wrong turn somewhere?
I think you zigged when you should have zagged.

@sabrejet:I have a Kora Hermès II tube dac and I love the smooth warm sound. I retrieved it from my storage room about a year ago and bought some stock12ax7’s, just to hear it again. What a delight. Next stop- Andy’s Vintage Tubes. One issue you need to know-this dac has only RCA inputs for digital cables and XLR/RCA outputs, which is exactly what (I) need. If you can find one of these, I think you will like the sound. |
so here is at little info relating to a DAC with a tube output stage: Dynamic range is the difference in volume between the quietest and the loudest passage, commonly measured in decibels (dB). Since 1-bit = 6dB:
DACs with tube output stages: the lowest noise floor on a tube output stage is about 90dB which means despite whatever the manufacturers may claim they can't even resolve a 16-bit recording. |
