The Palladian-A step beyond

The new cartridge from Acoustical Systems may finally be the LOMC to fully realise the theoretical advantages of the genus.
And convince those long-suffering audiophiles to whom the 'modern' MC presentation has been anathema to 'live sound'....that the realism of vintage LOMCs like the SPUs and FR-7 series has finally been recaptured 👀

We have the same problem with black bears up north where we cottage. During the winter (now) they easily out number the tourists. Its a good thing they are asleep till spring; otherwise they could probably start a revolt in town.

The five wise guys, instead of 3 wise men?

8^0

Dear Nandric,
You were talking about the Pope which I never do, so no wonder you are "under observation". In this context I do believe there was only one camel allowed at the Xmas crib. Already over 2000 years ago two camels were too much...not talking about the humps which seems to be one of ct1507's competency fields...
Btw I never complained about your posts (especially not yours) and not of anyone else. These strategies behind the scene I do believe is more found in latin-influenced countries, is this right? So looking for other authorities on ground one feels not safe enough to discuss.
Nandric, you need to change the focus of territorial struggle. Forget your own history and imagine you are living in warmer areas. You then understand why the heat is on more often.
Dear Nandric,

My posts were deleted by a moderator. Looks I have the same problem as you and other Forum members. The Moderator has a different sense of humor.
So what. Bye

Thuchan
I have asked the Moderators for an explanation as to why some Posts are being deleted.
It seems that someone (I wonder who) has 'flagged' this Thread so it is being monitored.
It appears that 'terrorist' tactics by certain individuals, can be successfully supported by the Moderators....and that is a shame 😪

Does this situation mean you want one of the "original", five wise guys mentioned earlier, replaced, with someone else for the downtown Sydney Camel parade I am planning ?

well ......ok..... I can make this one change, this one time just for you Henry ...... :^)

so........ who’s out and who’s in ?

Merry Christmas

Dear Thuchan, It is impossible to grasp everything our (only)

homo universalis writes . As we can see even religions belong

to his eloquence. My own education was, uh, Marxian so I am

totally innocent of any religious knowledge or insight. But there

are many musical works with religious ''thematics'' so I thought

that Bach mentioned somewhere those 5 wise persons. The problem

however are those 3 persons as Chris made clear despite his

obsession with camels . So I askeed myself in the old fashioned

way: "what have those removed contributions as well the invoved

person in common?'' To my surprise 3 persons are involved while

their common ''subject matter'' or ''teasing object or subject'' was

the Mexican. This may also answer the quasi question posted

by ''some Aussie'' regarding ''flagging'' his thread . So while he

thinks that  the whole issue is about him the real issue are the

persons and their post who were teasing each other with the

Mexican. Thuchan started or ''screwed'' the whole situation

with his expensive titanium screws while the ''verbal jokes''

invoving ''torqued'' persons and screws are made by Lew.

Ergo Lew's 3 persons are: Lew himself, one member of the

Bavarian maffia and the Serbian scum (without any honor).

Good deductive analogy Nikola.

IMO - Any and I mean "Any" consultant in this world, worth his/her salt, does not allow the client/customer to fully understand the path to the solution they are implementing. For the simple reason that once this is understood, the consultant role (their job) becomes obsolete. I say this to you as a Consultant of 30 years who is .......looking for work. :(

Chris made clear despite his obsession with camels

Actually my real "obsession", was made clear in my previous post.
You know, when you have run through the woods alone, encountered Black Bears, and they let you through without harm, you tend to become a little obsessed, I would think, about what just happened. Especially when you forget to wear the Bear Bell to protect you in your run.
What is this bear bell you may ask ?

https://thumbs.dreamstime.com/z/bear-bell-20452474.jpg

There is some Canadian Folklore that goes like this.

Johnny went for a hike in the woods. he loved nature and animals. Always wore his Bear Bell - to keep the bears at bay. Told his wife he would be back for dinner. When he did not return, his wife got worried, gathered a couple of friends and went looking for him. They looked and they looked. Just before dark, one of the friends said.

"Hey you guys come over here and look at this."

They all looked down at what was a very large pile of bear shit on the ground. And there sticking out the side of some of the poop, could be seen..... Johnny's Bear Bell.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zWjzV5fCh4Y

Some call them dinner bells

*********
Now apparently, the OP (Halcro) Henry, has a pet Camel so I was using that symbolism, what with the time of year. But probably should have somehow included a goat and donkey to to make it complete.
So instead of 6 camels, we now have 4 camels, 1 goat and 1 donkey. This makes the trip project more complicated now Henry.  I mean, really, which of the wise guys will be willing to be moved to a goat and donkey from a camel?  Oh, I think my trip service consulting fees may need to be adjusted.   :)
.

.

IMO, once the actual Palladian owners and other stakeholders of this audio thread subject, started opening discussions to other topics; this audio thread became fair game. Hope that Henry and the moderators do not mind.

One of the five wise guys, has been very very quiet during this stretch....... hmmm...

Dear Chris, I first thought that ''Any'' is the name of your wife (''Any

and I'') but you actually try to explain what the quantor ''any'' or ''all''

means (aka ''generality''). However I don't believe that '' all

Aussies'' are farmers who may be  interested in your ''animal

proposals''. The person in question is a kind of ''exclusive architect''

willing only to mess with orders above 100 (Australian) millions.

So my guess is that you can get his Decca for free if you promise

never to mention any camel again.

Nandric
So my guess is that you can get his Decca for free if you promise never to mention any camel again.

Henry
I did not know that you had hired Nikola as your Broker. (I assume because of all his cart transactions experience) No problem. So, do I send my mailing address to him, or to you direct ?

I was so looking forward to the parade. Consultants rarely land on work they actually enjoy, and with clients they like. This is the reason consultants go to lunch with their fellow consultants, most of the time; but on the lunch expense report of who gets billed; they write in the customer name. :^)

Well, I think my job is done here; so don’t let me keep you guys from discussing your favorite screws.

Dear Chris, Four of my contributions to this thread are already

removed. This is more than my total during my membership

from 2007 and on. However it is my ''holy plight'' to answer your

post which is addressed to me. Alas I need to disappoint you.

I am not the broker for this ''some Aussie''. We are on non speaking

terms so I never mention his name but refer to him as ''some

Aussie''.

You will also see no reference to my name in his post. So you are

on your one with your barter proposals. If I am well informed 146

Arabs got their virgins for exactly 6 camels for each . So while

reduced to the Arab world it may be considered as a kind of

standard.

Considering the fact that ''reduction of complexity'' is a  whorty

effort how about offering some virgine direct?  BTW the postage

cost  to and from Australia are shameless expensive.

Dear friends Nicola & Chris,
It is clear that critical thinking is forbidden here
but how is that possible to left you with an irreversible stroke?

Merry Christmas

Dear geoch, I missed your company in our forum. I think that you

are more sensitive for censorship issue than I. But you are from

UK and I from a communist country. So I keep posting in our

forum despite the censorship. I write for my comrades and not

for the moderator. I think you should do the same. What happened

with your British persistance?

I know you’ll never stop to teasing me Niko,
I’m Giorgos Charopoulos an orthodox Greek living in Greece as you remember well.

Persistance?
In this platform?
So flat-boring & filthily-rigged game, to always apply the clean-cut, the insipid politically correct diplomacy. Do you really feel this type of approved pathetic chat, can engage any elementary emotions?
We deserve this Nikola...

"whisky-foxtrot-tango"
Remember those days 4 years ago?
There is no turning back my friend.
We have lost big time then, and this is what we cash today.

Consultants of zombies, Brokers of the failures, dear Christo,
are these cartooned puppets  your brave souls, your inspired spirituals in this world?

Take care

Nikola
You told me we should never speak the "C" word anymore, but you did just this, in your last post to me?

In audiophile terms, you share the likes of the same tonearm and cartridge with this person you call "some Aussie", yet you cannot find common ground ? How is this possible ?   I thought "some Aussie" was used in an affectionate way. my bad.

nandric
. if considering the fact that ''reduction of complexity'' is a whorty

From the business world, I have these three letters next to my name "PmP" (google it)

When people (learn this), especially now as I am not actively practicing my work, the guys (with drink in them), all want to insert an " i " in there and start making assumptions of my capabilities, and ask for favors. You should hear some of the stories I have heard.

Hi Geoch - very interesting Moniker you have, ......... considering recent discussions here. 8^0

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eg75nFifO90

I didn't think I was aiming high with my parade idea. Not like I was trying to obtain peace in the World. Was just looking to see if some friendship could be obtained, with good dialogue amongst some audiophiles here, if the context could be taken out of the typical audio-phile box.

Did anyone else get censored for relating a story about what Groucho Marx said about Doris Day?  No, I don't think so.  Just me.

Geoch, I am not quite sure what you are trying to say, but your prose is lovely.  Except I think it's "whiskey-tango-foxtrot" (WTF) that you meant to write.
WTF indeed!
You should go back in time when we've had illusions of free filings.
When the threads closed leaving the bitter shade of the welded enclosure. It was clear then what we should expect.
Is this a fresh air that we breathing here?
This time I'm censored even for my acoustical beliefs.
I can't even naming anything if using strong characters.
Depressive stage and so limited field for us to exchange some deepened thoughts if friendship is growing between the lines.
Forgive my prose is not intended to a call. Typical silent to sowing seeds? Perhaps, if we've had the time to think how restricted is this platform, maybe is a wise counteraction for us.

I thought Agon had improved and took their lessons that censorship (which is different than sensitive moderation) is not supporting their business as a sales platform. But I was wrong. It is their decision to do business in the way they want it and it is our decision to take part or not.

Thuchan

Dear Geoch, I assume that teasing is also custom in Greece among

friends. It is not done to hug or, godforseken, kiss each other in

the macho countries so we invented this strange custom to please

each other. Sometimes this resulted in fights and broken frienships

but in the most cases there were no tragic consequences. I thought

that you were growing some kind of vegetables in order to cope with

your disatisfaction with  even the ''most expensive gear''. I compared

you with Onasis but forget why (grin). Anyway I hope that despite

the fact of being Greek you are not in the Greek situation?

Regards. Thuchan
With titanium, when considering midrange enhancement the eigen value of resonance on a molecular level is not apparent (IIRC) until the 135th harmonic.

Other elements discussed in this thread resonate at a much baser level, a common factor to be mindful of when discussing who got the (titanium) screws.

Peace,

Dear timeltel, Glad to ''see'' you back!

Dear Lew, Will you be so kind to translate for us the commons in

plain English what our Professor is talking about?

oops!
Just a warm welcome is enough.

It was my Pluto 9A Prestge/Goldfinger/Symphonic Line RG-6
at contrast with the better sounding TD-124/Saec 308SX/Z1S & F9E that reversed my world.

To say that I'm in deep s**t is the hilarious commedy of my country
Last night I had reason to unbox my UNItractor (or whatever Dietrich calls his first and most elaborate protractor) in order to align a new cartridge, and I once again was able to appreciate its elegance.  It is not a simple device, but I like what Einstein is said to have said about solutions to problems (like aligning a tonearm). Something to the effect that the solution should be as simple as possible, but not simpler.  DB thought of everything that could go wrong or be a source of error in alignment and provided mechanisms to eliminate them as much as the skill and patience of the user will permit.  Well done and worth the relatively high cost.
Timetel you are so right. Pls. do not let Lew translate for Nandric. Otherwise Nandric will write a post to me and we four will be moderated...

Sorry Nandric,  but it is too dangerous for you...pls. do understand. I know you will. Thanks

Dear thuchan, I mixed up Dutch and Serbian sayings but whoever

is the author I think you will like it: ''Dear Lord save me from my

friends I can manage my enemies myself''.

Dear Nandric,

So true :-)

Just listened to the Palladian again. The last Leonhard Cohen album "You want it darker". How wonderful!!! What a cart! And what a good recording & pressing.
Lord, I am ready...

First Geoch and now Thuchan. The Europeans are starting to worry me with the music they are listening to.

Leonard Cohen - You Want it Darker

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=v0nmHymgM7Y

Sorry Thuchan. No endorphins flowing here for me.

I am getting images with this music, of a dark place as the year draws to a close. Not where I want to be. I am afraid to ask what the theme of the parade would have been if it had happened. I thrive on energy, and life, and am drawn to the music of the younger generation, for its energy.

Now the beauty of classical music......... is it never gets old.

I have been recently feeding more classical music to my son as he is home for the holidays. I sat him down in my chair and I asked him to listen to a piece for a few minutes. I then muted the system and I asked. "What is your opinion son, of this music."

"Dad" he said.

"This music brings back nice memories of when I was small"

"Can you be more specific" I asked.

He said "It reminds me of when I used to watch Bugs Bunny on TV"

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bYM84n-2Sas

to the OP - Henry et al - I hope you are listening to music (whatever it is - including LC -RIP)  if that is what gets your endorphins flowing.

Happy New Year

Thanks Chris...
Are you sure you don't like L. Cohen....👀😱❓
If you like the recording of Cohen's last album Thuchan......you must hear his triple Live London Concert....
All his greatest songs with simply remarkable recording quality.

Thank goodness 2016 is over...💩
Happy New Year to all 😃
ct0517,

If the first song "You want it darker" of the LP doesn't thrill you something must be wrong with your playback system, maybe the tonearm?  😇
It is a good example showing the system is able to bring you into ecstasy!
No? 😱 Play it loud if it is possible...

Halcro, I got only the Live recordings "Songs from the road" and "Live at the Isle of Wright 1970". Thanks for the hint.

I am just listening to the early MFSL LPs like Bob Seeger - Night Moves. These early productions were really good, absolutely stunning in sound and quality (1-034).
Dear Chris,
please try this 2LPs:

****Pieter Nooten/Michael Brook-"Sleeps with the Fishes"
****This Mortal Coil-"Blood"

and if you like new wave from 80's:
****Clan of Xymox-"Medusa"

there is beauty in this darkness
As for me, as much as I love both of my audio systems, nothing does it quite like live music.  So last night I went down to Blues Alley in Georgetown (DC) to catch the late show of the Cyrus Chestnut Trio.  For those who don't know, Cyrus is a jazz pianist of note.  I like that he still plays standards, and his improvisations are very imaginative.  As a surprise, he brought up onto the stage a young female singer imported from NYC.  Her name is Brianna Thomas.  I had never heard of her, let alone heard her.  She was utterly brilliant, a new major talent, in my opinion.  Sarah Vaughn and others, re-visited.  (Almost no one ever in history had the chops of Sarah, including opera singers. Well, maybe Aretha. Maybe Tebaldi.) Her work with Cyrus made my day and my night.  I had a conversation with her after the show, and I intend to hear more of her during future visits to New York.  She's on CD only, sadly.

I know he has a big following, but I cannot make myself love Leonard Cohen.  However, any man's death diminishes me, as John Donne said.
More than Leonard Cohen, I will miss my best friend, who was killed in a freak accident last April, 2016.
So sorry for your loss my friend.

From the time (I was 13 years old) that I’ve found Van Der Graaf, I’ve left behind my careless youth with Bowie,  Uriah Heep, J. Airplane, Joni Mitchell, CSN&Y and start digging into progressive. There is no turning back once you’ve taste the bitterness of being.
BTW I rate my avatar moniker as one of my most cheerful records.
Lewm - sorry for your loss.

I know he has a big following, but I cannot make myself love Leonard Cohen.

Lewm/Thuchan/Henry

he is an institution in Canada. if I say anything else, I probably risk Canada Grade A eggs being launched at my house, and the irony being, I am not even supposed to be eating them.

@Thuchan

I do not own this album and I have only a couple of his cd’s somewhere in the house. If the music (and more so the music message with Cohen) doesn’t capture me simply through internet means (like youtube); I won’t pursue buying the lp. Besides I have too many existing lp’s to get through right now.

Geoch (Giorgos)/Thuchan

Regarding Dark Music in general.

If I was still wearing my Monkey Suit every day, travelling, and working for others; by 6 pm, I always needed something to take the edge off - to bring me down a bit. Maybe a little dark music would be just the ticket if I was in that frame of mind. But I am in the light right now, and have been for quite some time. Right now, any stresses are brought on mostly as a result of my own decisions, and not those of others. (ones family excluded)

If you want to really get into dark music then you need to listen to nothing but traditional folk songs from the British isles -- it’s not a real song unless you have at least one murder, a suicide and a haunting!

Anyway back to the topic of this thread -- with 15 hours on the Palladian know I continue to be having loads of fun. One of the really great things is how well it separates out multiple lines of instruments from one another -- A1 Track 1 from "La Tarentule" Atrium Musicae de Madrid (Speakers Corner HM 379) is a torture track of wheezing and squeaking wooden flutes, vihuelas etc -- actually 32 different instruments on one cut (not all at the same time luckily) -- with the Palladian you can tell them all apart which is quite astonishing

Dynamics are also astounding -- the Maskaela "Coal Train cut was a great example this morning, now matter how it drives the Palladian keeps pace

Anyway really encourages a great variety -- my listening this morning included
  • Hugh Masakela "Hope" - Coal Train
  • John Martyn "Live at Leeds" - Solid Air
  • Pentangle "Cruel Sister" -- Franklin
  • Atrium Musicae de Madrid - "La Tarentule" -- Auditorium Tarantua;e/Chorea
  • Cooder/Bhatt "Meeting by the River" -- Usa Lei
  • Loussier "The Best of Play Bach" (FIM) -- Gavotte in D Major/Jesu Joy
  • DiMeola/McLaughlin/DeLucia "Friday" -- Mediterranean Sundance
  • Mary Chapin Carpenter "State of the Heart" -- This Shirt/Quittin Time
So from audiophile classics to heavily produced digital early 80s country the Palladian pulls out the best in every recording. It also makes each recording sound completely different, seems very honest to the records and imposes none of its own character. With the PC1 instruments such as Loussier’s piano were often blown out of scale, which sounds pleasant, but is actually an artifact and masks other things going on

Anyway great fun, and isn’t that one of the reasons we like to change things now and again, to rediscover our collections?

All bridges burning behind me,
All safety beyond reach,
The monkey feels his chains out blindly,
Only to find himself released.

Van Der Graaf Generator - La Rossa

I connect our lives with a deeper meaning as we’ve borrowed a body for a while.
The soul is searching for something...

Happy New Year
I’ll confess to playing Cohen’s You Want It Darker LP during the Xmas afternoon celebration. It suited my holiday mood and, reflecting upon the profundity of his poetry, may not have been as incongruous to the occasion as one might think. Unfortunately my family strongly disagreed with his sepulchral baritone and the LP was summarily dismounted at risk of indigestion. I’ll try again this New Year’s Eve.

Well observed folkfreak.....
How has the bass settled in?
I find that some cartridges over-emphasise the bass response....which can sound impressive initially but becomes tiresome eventually.....whereas the Palladian has a totally 'even' frequency response with no undue emphasis across the audio band.

I know how you feel my friend.....
My wife calls it "music to slit your wrists to...." 😱
If however, you're not in the mood to 'end it all'.......his penultimate album 'Popular Problems' is a great antidote which sees Lenny in an upbeat (for him) mood with a solid 'bluesy' undercurrent.
Great sound and recording as always.....😀

@halcro "how is the bass". I've not found it to change much over time but it has consistently been very well integrated and as deep as the content on the recording. The PC1 has a lower mid bass bump that gives the impression of more bass but in reality imposes a tone that blurs the differences between instruments. Case in point on early Genesis the PC1 blurs the sound of the bass guitar and the bass pedal. With the Palladian when a bass pedal enters it is completely distinct, not only in frequency but also the tone and shape.  So in summary many will think the Palladian is a tad bass shy but the reality is it gives you what is one the recording. With very loud forward bass such as a Holly Cole "Jersey Girl" it is well defined and detailed while not impinging on the rest of the mix. This track can sound overloaded if you have bass resonances somewhere in your system

one other observation is that the Palladian doesn't sugar coat anything. If the instrument sounds rough or edgy (like much of the Tarantelle record I referenced earlier) then that is what you'll get. Finally the ability to swing sudden dynamics is top rate, take the sudden "cuckooo" in the first Tarantelle band, it'll have you jumping out of your seat

The bass pedal on "Firth of fifth" very few speakers can express the feeling.
Folkfreak - From your list I fancy the ladies.

Mary Chapin Carpenter is one real hottie, and one of my audio girlfriends, I mean, just so you understand ......
We also happen to share the same birthday. Mary and I.
fwiw & imo - This brings a bigger bond in music ......more so than any mono tone scratchy lyrics are going to bring you.... 8^0
Don't take my word for it. Ask one of my fraternal twins.
Holly Cole - now there is a Canadian voice I can get behind.

*****************************

Geoch (Giorgos) - very appropriate lyrics. Thanks for that. It took about 9 months for me to realize the chains were no longer there. btw. do you remember years ago - our conversation...it ended as.... yeah go ahead, and fill the four pillars of the TNT with BlueTack ....and see what happens. Talk about resonating voices from the Dark Side. These voices had horns.

*****************************

DG ( Dave) - I would like to comment on your elegant post, but can't for fear of being egg'ed.

It's going to take more coffee this morning.

Dear Chris,
NO!
I never done this. Never!
I’m terribly sorry to hear that but, it seems you really don’t remember what I’ve said back then!
I haven’t told you specifically to avoid blue tack. I’d assumed you knew! On the headshell, even the slightest portion, produces an unmusical - dead sounding effect.
My advice was beeswax/lead balls. You make your own decision once it was easily reversible, without asking and then you told me back the results. But truth is ... you didn’t follow my advice (and I was wondering ... why you suddenly stop mail me ...)
Anyway I don’t believe that stopping the (don’t tell please) pillars from ringing can save the situation. Hope you stop messing around with this any more and start to exploring your TJN Ref.
Geoch
(and I was wondering ... why you suddenly stop mail me ...)
My apologies - every spring I haul my a-- out of my rooms downstairs, and head north to reunite with the Bears. I could say that the terrain is treacherous with very bad internet signal, and it is true. But the real reason is the Bears don’t like me emailing, and they can be persuasive. Besides I believe email is becoming obsolete soon. In fact the soon to be leader of the free world just told us this morning, that no computer is safe ..........there u go *^)

My advice was beeswax/lead balls. You make your own decision once it was easily reversible, without asking and then you told me back the results. But truth is ... you didn’t follow my advice

Audiophile Rule # 2.

Never attempt "anything" that is not reversible. For the simple reason of
Rule #1.

Rule # 1 - Audiophiles are never happy and constantly seek change.

Oh, If anyone seeing this needs any Blue Tack, I still have lots....
I can still picture the nice ladies face at the Wal-mart checkout, when I clearing the store of all their Blue Tack stock back then. Her comment to me with a funny look on her face - "Sir, you do realize this is not on sale" Ah, the moments we need to endure to be an audiophile....:^(

Palladian Tip

Owners may put a bit on your torque wrench to help install and remove those expensive titanium screws. Never lose one in the carpet.
@ct0517 if you like Mary Chapin I hope you got her latest "The Things That We Are Made Of" on Vinyl -- well worth it for "Note on a Windshield" alone. My favorite of her LPs is "Come On, Come On" which is rare as hens teeth on vinyl but well worth tracking down

@geoch -- bass pedal on "Cinema Show" even more distinct! My Q3s do a fair job of getting it out but I'm sure I'm not getting that trouser flapping effect I could do with even bigger speakers
Since I've sold my Proac Response 5/Goldmund Mimesis 7/8.4monos (back on 1997) I can only hear this on headphones.
I remember the first time I heard it, was when I put the Goldmund Lineal interconnect  /  Cardas Hexlink Golden 5c speaker cables in the chain. It was not an easy task and till today, perhaps a handful of the set-ups I know, can express this bass pedal.
I'm trying these days with DIY class D stereo subs (programmable x-over) and I'm almost close to succeed.
Hi Folkfreak
I discovered MCC by fluke a few years ago with Stones In The Road. A very nice surprise for me. I prefer this album to Come on, Come On. The lead up from John Doe #24 to Jubillee to Outside looking In - never fails to give me a better outlook (what I strive for), no matter what may have been inflicted on me earlier that day. My goal for 2017 is to continue what I started in 2016. To get through and learn 3k + mostly classical records that I added to my LP stash. I was faced with an enormous challenge when these came through the front door. So I asked, actually (pleaded) for help from the members here in how best to assimilate and integrate these records.

Henry, sorry for the shameless thread plug, but if anyone is a classical aficionado, your ideas are most welcome here.

https://forum.audiogon.com/discussions/best-ways-to-organize-a-classical-record-lp-collection

I could not have made the progress I have made so far in this short time without the members help. Folkfreak thanks for the heads up on the new lp.

Hi Geoch (Giorgos)
The JN TT is parked in Room 2 - unplugged - future unknown. Platine/with Custom ET 2.5 continues to run the show. You know, if Analog was like Digital, according to my contacts still on a 2 year business cycle with new product out every couple of years, and prices slashed on previous generations; then I probably would have a bigger desire to sell it but.....as long as Analog turntables/tonearms/carts even Palladian (correct me if I am wrong here owners), still use records pressed on the same machines that are 50+ years old; then I don’t see the value difference between analog and digital changing much. Very pleased with my DAC and digital, but once vinyl hits the platter it stays on vinyl.

@ct0517 more interesting Mary Chapin facts and LPs/CDs to look up if you don't already have them

Firstly did you know that "Stones in the Road" was written for and first recorded by Joan Baez -- available on LP too on her "Play me Backwards" disc?

And here's a great version of them singing it together

Which is very reminiscent of the version form MCC's live CD "Party Doll" which I use as a test track for live sounding band play

Among Mary Chapin's other CD only releases my favorite is "Between Here and Gone" with "Goodnight America" an excellent test of a system's ability to cope with a well produced but busy mix and "Grand Central Station" just a deeply moving song ....

thanks for that info Folkfreak.
you certainly live up to your moniker/avatar. :^)

I think my favorite folk singer is probably Alison Krauss, but I also realize she's a favorite for many, so needs to be shared. :^(
My Canadian IP address keeps me from accessing the last three American urls in your last post. Ironically, I have the same problem sometimes trying to get Lp's of American artists I like, ordered on this side of the border. I wonder if your new president will make this situation worse or better for Canadian music lovers ?
hah , hah
Cheers Chris

Dear Chris, I assume that you are not interested in those titanium

screws but all other which are magnetic you can find in your

carpet with an magnet. If you don't own any you can use the

magnet of any of your drivers. As you probably know thuchan

promissed to me just one of those titanium screws but I need

to get the precious via Raul . Lucky me Dertonarm promissed to

me two pairs for free. So I am searching for this ''tension wrench''

and already bought a strong magnet in anticipation. To change the

carpet is much more expensive alas.
