The Palladian-A step beyond

The new cartridge from Acoustical Systems may finally be the LOMC to fully realise the theoretical advantages of the genus.
And convince those long-suffering audiophiles to whom the 'modern' MC presentation has been anathema to 'live sound'....that the realism of vintage LOMCs like the SPUs and FR-7 series has finally been recaptured 👀

Fleib, I try to understand what you said about assessments and image of AS. You are refering to a WBf thread. why don't you mention the critical acclaims  and awards of AS in Japan, Germany, China etc.?

It looks to me when you have ZERO knowledge you get easily frustrated cause the audience doesn' t provide applause. You might look for other channels or victims to blame about your own desastrious condition. Instead of being supportive or fond of exchanging positive ideas about the thread's topic you always repeat the same old stories of side scenes (what everyone else already knows)  which has nothing to do with the topic at all. This kind of bullshitting is what many curious and ambitious people are not really fond of.

Fleib,
The Titanium screws are really good. I am also using them since a month with my Palladian in the Arche headshell. It is a pitty that all the good stuff is such pricy, especially on carts.
Hope you will have the chance listening to a Palladian in the next days or weeks. I would be curious what you think!

Fleib,
dealing with carts may be a never ending story. Halcro and Nandric, Lew and many other serious audiophiles are facing the same challenge. What we could do is selling some and concentrate only on our favourites but...Yesterday I listened to the Lyra Atlas on my Caeles table (true airbearing design). After that I could tell everyone why it is necessary to have the Atlas. I love it!
A similar experience I had when I listened to the Palladian. I was very sceptical if it would give me more information than the other AS designs?
It did. This is really a new design. I doubt that I would meet someone driving the Palladian and not becoming fascinating by the Live Sound it produces. You need to hear this to believe!
I am using the AS protractor, the big one. After all my previous protractors this is the one which made me happy. Not because I am an AS boy or this other emotional BS spilled out of an angry and frustrated man. No, because it caters to my needs perfectly. A good sound is the result.
Just a side information: In the meantime it is the best sold protractor in Germany in the last two years.

Nandric,
I hope you understood me. I meant ONE! This means you have to organize one more from another side unless you are single handed. Maybe you ask Halcro...
Pls. try to see my position. Despite all of your merits when it comes to cart repair activities these screws are precious...

Fleib,
No idea why you posted the video. Some might say it's cruel, others will recognize the fight of animals. You are right the performance of the cart is not dependent on the protractor. It is about the correct alignment of the arm which enables you to enjoy music in different ways. Believe me I have seen people driving wonderful carts in arms which where not perfectly aligned. I can hear the difference, maybe you too. I also realized that the guys always talking about distortions are the least capable of handling the issue. They usually approach it in a lassier fair manner and do wonder why it doesn't sound (that's why they always hear distortions!) but it is technology, a good tool like the AS protractor and experience which lead to a good result.
Dear Nandric,

I do respect that some friends do not like Lyras. I got different experiences with them, good ones. You are on the wrong track when you think I would compare the Atlas with the Palladian. You might read on my blog what I do think about the Palladian, the Atlas, the Olympos and the Titan i. No reason to show "I am the Peter" or "you are the Paul". I enjoy carts but also suffer from owning too many. So yes, maybe I will sell some in the next time.
It's Xmas time maybe thinking about donation?

Which one you will send Raul and which one to Fleib? Fleib may have lowered his starting options by the last post...?

Dear Ct0517,

I just hooked up my Kuzma Airline with a fantastic compressor, the Dürr Sicotec, also suplying my Caeles air bearing table. I am considering using my ET-2.0 as a second arm on the Caeles too. What I learned regarding linear trackers: it might be not the best choice using carts with rubber parts due to the heavy side movements. I am happy with the Zyx 4 or the Zyx Universe, never considered mounting my Decca London Reference. And in fact it might be worth to give it a try.
ct0517 and Nandric,

It is not a big deal for Halcro as his country is used to camels. I don't mean the foolish ones but the real. Halcro's forefathers already imported huge numbers of camels to cross the more than 1000 miles of the dry and red areas. I am not sure if he keeps one at home anymore to have a ride at Bondi Beach? So your dream Ct0517 may come true. I for myself don't need one. I prefer fast cars...Btw Nandric the London Reference is a wonderful MM design you should try.

ct0517, thanks for all the good descriptions and explanations regarding the ET arms. Very helpful. I know you are the godfather of ET and some time ago I followed  your fabulous thread. So it is still alive. Great!
Dear Nandric,
You were talking about the Pope which I never do, so no wonder you are "under observation". In this context I do believe there was only one camel allowed at the Xmas crib. Already over 2000 years ago two camels were too much...not talking about the humps which seems to be one of ct1507's competency fields...
Btw I never complained about your posts (especially not yours) and not of anyone else. These strategies behind the scene I do believe is more found in latin-influenced countries, is this right? So looking for other authorities on ground one feels not safe enough to discuss.
Nandric, you need to change the focus of territorial struggle. Forget your own history and imagine you are living in warmer areas. You then understand why the heat is on more often.
Dear Nandric,

My posts were deleted by a moderator. Looks I have the same problem as you and other Forum members. The Moderator has a different sense of humor.
So what. Bye

Thuchan
I thought Agon had improved and took their lessons that censorship (which is different than sensitive moderation) is not supporting their business as a sales platform. But I was wrong. It is their decision to do business in the way they want it and it is our decision to take part or not.

Thuchan
Timetel you are so right. Pls. do not let Lew translate for Nandric. Otherwise Nandric will write a post to me and we four will be moderated...

Sorry Nandric,  but it is too dangerous for you...pls. do understand. I know you will. Thanks
ct0517,

If the first song "You want it darker" of the LP doesn't thrill you something must be wrong with your playback system, maybe the tonearm?  😇
It is a good example showing the system is able to bring you into ecstasy!
No? 😱 Play it loud if it is possible...

Halcro, I got only the Live recordings "Songs from the road" and "Live at the Isle of Wright 1970". Thanks for the hint.

I am just listening to the early MFSL LPs like Bob Seeger - Night Moves. These early productions were really good, absolutely stunning in sound and quality (1-034).
Dear Nandric,

So true :-)

Just listened to the Palladian again. The last Leonhard Cohen album "You want it darker". How wonderful!!! What a cart! And what a good recording & pressing.
Lord, I am ready...

Nandric,
The world is full of promises 😢
You may be a serious addressee for the Titanium screws. Others were offending my offer and asked succesfully for deleting my post.
I am a bit puzzled now but happy that you finally have succeeded in getting some for free.
Was thinking about sending the last Cohen LP to Ct0517 as it is really something different than any digital format in this case. But as I am learning I thought it could lead to a further deletion...sorry Chris!
Back to Palladian and away from Leonard...
Just listened to Stanley Clarke's SchoolDays, in the 2011 Sony (Epic) version, mastered from the original tapes, with the Palladian. If you ever wanted to know how a bass should sound you need that combination...
Raul,
I have already seen all the wonderful places in Mexico.Thanks.
You may invite Mr. Trump convincing him that free trade and not building up walls and censorship may be the better way - if that matches with your philosophy too??

Regarding the Palladian you should hear it first. Then you will change your assessment in case you are disburdened of historical experiences.
Raul,
Everyone who has listened to my system and has carefully studied the way of bass implementation in my system on Audiocirc knows that your outside view is not really qualifying you.

Raul,
You seem to care. That's why you always come back on this. Be assured if you would have the chance to hear the Palladian - not only talking from the distance without experience - I would take your comments more serious.
Dear Nandric,
Maybe you are more realistic than me. On the other hand I have met in Mexico wonderful people, not only the beautiful young ladies, and also not the drug related guys... who knows, maybe Raul gets enlighted one day. You should never give up hope.

It could be that it is Trump's hidden dream to become statue in Mexico - not sure on which side of the wall...

Dear Dover,
You are so right, that might be the most realistic scenario...
Raul,
When you studied my system did you realize that it has an analogue and a digital bass amplification?  - and it is not a copy as you assumed before, completely different to the Vox Olympian. Just study the images on the speakers,  X-over and amps.

Ct0517,

It seems that the good old times of our very deep exchanges on audio equipment and their side stories are over. Hopefully a motivated and long time analogue user is still reading today a newspaper, not only on new tweaks on digital developments and sports. Yes, these are also interesting.

As I was not successful in delivering my Titanium screws to the many countries to be designated to I will give up and return into isolation. Btw. Isolation is a very hot topic right now bringing down all the interferences and disturbances by other sources. Controlling air borne and structural noise is the topic of one of my articles. I am curious what Michael Fremer will tell us on his own observations regarding the Minus-K built in platform of Döhmann’s Helix table.

I have sent Nandric a book about the art of turntables. Hopefully he will not reject this one.
Folkfreak,
As you are now aquainted with the titanium screws you may need a titanium tonearm. Are you already running one?  I just got a SpJ fully titanium tonearm, also the tube. Here the Timet screws feel very familiar with the Palladian...the sound is terrific. I am using the combo on my Caeles table.

Dear all,

Btw. it seems I found a Joker for the Palladium (maybe not only for the Palladium). I am still testing it for one more week to be really safe on my assessment.  Keep you posted.
Thanks Folkfreak,
Halcro, Dietrich has heard his Palladian with the SpJ. I could not stop him putting his hand on the Titanium screws... He used the Opus I disc to adjust in the best possible way. He said he felt responsible for the previous owner 😇

Dear Nandric,

I know. It's about a tuning issue. Very special but from this world.
I need to explain it, nevertheless I am just studying and experimenting. So may I ask you to be patient for one more week. I will then be ready to present my results. Just running the AT ART 1000 for the first time, also got an additional hybrid phono pre from Acoustic Arts for testing. Somehow busy now. And I am not getting paid for that!
Greetings to the Netherlands, enjoy being third...
Hi khumalo,

I am listening to the ART 1000 by the EMT JPA 66, not by the AA as the AA phono just arrived at me for testing and I always prefer to test carts with my well known lines. I will tell you when I got time for the AA.
Dear Nandric,

Sorry for confusing. I would like to tell you who is first and who is second but I believe the moderators will not like it. Just tried but it was refused. You may know that this platform is not allowing carrying jokes, especially when it comes to our exchange on wonderful high end related topics. So I have to e-mail you. Sorry for that.
Dear Raul,
I discovered AT during my business time in Japan and therefore had a different access as most audiophiles in Europe. I do not know why they only covered the US market besides of their home market and neglected Europe. You were lucky in these days.
You're right on AT's quality as I found out on their carts too and an excellent very heavy TT mat. The ART 1000 is again an outstanding cart.

Dear Nandric,
These were the good old days, the beginning of the ninties last century. We had no internet! The Minidisc had just arrived. I was happy to experience that period at the lower level of the Sony Center building in Tokyo when you went out of the subway station. Great collection of records too. Today it's spirit is gone, very sad.
The Ikeda9 is a fine cart. I do me hard which one is best. They are different or maybe put it better that way:I do prefer some for rock, some for Jazz music.
The Palladian has a fantastic three dimensionality, the ART 1000 is singing beautifully and warm with a good resolution, the Ikeda9 is more on the dynamic side as is the Atlas. Could continue...

Dear Nandric,
The Victor MC1, being the predecessor of my L-1000 Laboratory, is a fine cart too. I have never heard the X-1 II. I cannot display pictures here of the ART 1000 but you may see it on my site. Fremer did some explanations on a bigger model in his video on analog.corner too.
Dear Downunder,

Audio Technica designed with the ART 1000 a wonderful transponder producing a stable, warm and lush sound. It is voluminous, well-tempered, harmonious and comes with a good resolution. Regarding the three-dimensionality is does not deliver the wide and open space the Palladian does. But it wouldn’t be fair to call this a disadvantage. It is just another way of listening habit you go along with.
Dear Nandric,
As promised i would like to tell you about my impressions of a tweaking gear Fremer/Deutsch had succesfully tested on carts, the Synergistic PHTs. I expected a kind of joker effect.
Although I realized a subtle difference it wasn’t that overwhelming.
Maybe I am spoiled too much? 🤣

Ha ha Nandric,
I know exactely how many carts I have. When I reach 100 this year  I will tell you. Nevertheless the number is not important. It makes also no sense to classify favourites from 1 to 10 or so. I sometimes (!) forget certain carts and discover them again in a certain tonearm/cart combination, yes for special usages like guitar music, or Trio Jazz, maybe good rock music. If you would ask me more specific questions, like in which arm for what music I am prefering a certain cart that seems to make more sense for me, somehow...
Dear Nandric,

I do not listen to classical music. I am sorry that I can't help you on that. The FR and Ikeda carts are good. Instead of going for another Ikeda I would go for the Palladian or the ART 1000.

Hi Folkfreak,
we got another Titan-tonearm, the Axiom 12 Titan Grand Complication. I reported about it on my site. And, yes Titan got some listenable advantages.

best
E.
