The Music Room

Hi has anyone done business with The Music Room?  They seem legit, but their lack of a published address makes me a little nervous

I am the originator of this thread.  I did purchase a preamp from them, and I am happy with the transaction.  I am looking to upgrade my DAC and will be looking there first.  Good people.
I'm very glad to have found this thread. I was wondering the same thing as the original poster. A while back, I saw some speakers TMR listed for a better price than just about anywhere else. I would have pulled the trigger but the timing just wasn't right for me. I'll keep them in mind down the road.
Bought a pair of JM Labs Micro Utopias. They worked with me on the price. One woofer was damaged during shipping. They paid for the speakers to be sent back to them. They purchased new drivers replaced them and sent them back to me as quickly as they could. With the cost of drivers, I'm sure they ended up taking a big hit but were very professional and responded quickly with extraordinary effort to satisfy.
In all fairness, a good friend of mine works for them.  I've retrofitted and replaced almost my entire 2-channel setup through them.  It has been nothing but smooth sailing for me.
I recently purchased a BAT300XSE integrated amp from them that arrived DOA.

I called/emailed immediately, dealt with a gent named Karl who simply addressed my plight, resolved it, handled it professionally.

He sent me a shipper back to BAT, shipped me another unit from the store. Quickly. Followed up, too.

I most definitely will do business with them again. Class operation.
Have done several transactions with TMR over the past couple years both buying and selling. Very fair on both the buying and selling fronts. I definitely will continue to do business with them in the future as wants arise. Very good communication, shipping and transactions.
+1 - mdhoover, dicockrum, pops, jons and All.

Made my first purchase from TRM recently ; Condition better than rated, accepted lower but reasonable offer, excellent packing.

I believe we all know the blatant offender. He will moderate you to protect his " Wannabe Nonsense "
His regurgitated opinions and advice taken from the reviews of others.

I suppose he will have the last pair of working Thiels; since he just looks at them and smiles. No amps or speaker cables. Dave how long before I get moderated?

Best to All
Purchased a Conrad-Johnson MF2550 from them.  It was in much better condition than what TMR graded it at.  It looked brand new to me!  I placed the order and they shipped same day.  I also purchased a Marantz SA8005 from them.  Two flawless transactions with TMR and I couldn't be happier.
Purchased $5k component from The Music Room - great service, product in excellent condition, great price and support, delivery were all great.

+2 on Dave and mdhoover and I posted almost the exact same thing on a different thread yesterday.

Right on mdhoover. One of the most blatant offenders is very active right here on Audiogon. Shameless.

Dave
dlcockrum,
Thank you. I personally think it’s borderline unethical to do what you describe as some others doing. There’s certainly nothing wrong with "window shopping" in its purest form. The problem is when brick and mortar stores are used SOLELY as venues to research products which are later purchased elsewhere for a few dollars less, thereby leaving the B&M stores high and dry, with all of the cost but none of the profit. They can’t possibly survive that way. If such stores go the way of the dinosaur, then we’ll ALL be paying the price, and have largely ourselves to blame.

I just made my first purchase from TMR.   Good communication.  Shipped the next business day.  Great packaging.   Items as described.  I highly recommended TMR and would not hesitate in doing business with it again.
+1 on all points mdhoover.

Allow me to add one more insidious threat to B&M dealers:

Narcissists that create and maintain a list of places to audition equipment that they have no intention to buy from that dealer (or from any dealer or from anyone). They often keep an "audition list" updated at all times for such purposes by relentlessly polling other audiophiles in order to grow that list.

Dave
FWIW: As audiophiles, we need to support "brick and mortar" audio stores, at least the legitimate ones.  Otherwise they'll disappear.  The problem with such places disappearing is that when they disappear, then the following things also disappear:
1) A place to actually listen to and look at audio equipment.
2) The availability of expert people, who have made audio their JOB, to consult with about audio issues.  I don't know about you guys, but for me at least having the likes of Duane Randleman (an audio dealer I've known for well over 10-15 years) has led me on the fast track to audio Nirvana. Were it not for Duane, I'd still not be there yet.
3) A local interface for service of audio products when they need service (as the law of entropy dictates that they will, not a question of if but when).
4) A tradition, that at least the older ones among us still appreciate: Visiting an audio store and chatting with "the guys."

I have sold several items using The Music Room. Sometimes they purchase an item for cash (great if you need immediate cash) and other times for consignment selling.

They do an excellent job preparing and listing your item for a consignment sale including pictures,  complete write up and support. They test all incoming products, handle all packing and shipping. The Music Room is highly recommended.

I agree with fsmithjack above that they are sometimes a little slow in their response.  I usually give them 24-48 hours and then call if no response.  I still continue to use them and they are recommended.
Great company that offers nice products at good prices but take much too long to respond with Trade in quotes. I've done multiple deals with them and once you agree on a deal they are outstanding - great service - quick shipping - solid follow through but man getting to the goal with a trade is so painful. I will do more business with them because they always have a ton of great used gear and their super strong online marketing presense in our Audio World (Agon - the Marts - eBay, etc) but man if they just backed it up with reasonable or even any response times. I wish they would improve on this aspect because I really like them and you can trust them and they disclose every nick or blemish with great hi-def zoomable pics and they always have some very creamy used gear that is priced quite fairly but all the waiting and having to keep re-sending additional inquiries over and over is not how they should roll. Just respond and spit out the number man! If you have no trade they Rock!
MoFi, you have the business address, they have 2 locations. But the Teller is where they send you. Actually the address you gave is on the website, the other isn't, they might it want people dropping in as they have no showroom per say.
TMR is the outlet for all of the gear that PS Audio takes in trade.
I was wondering what/where Paul was doing with all the trade-in stuff.
Late to the party here but my experience with them was also good.  Very professional to deal with and two very heavy monoblocks were well packaged and promptly shipped.
Some of you may have noticed that PS Audio is taking trade-ins on their new equipment.  Doesn't have to be PS Audio brand, anything will be considered.  TMR is the outlet for all of the gear that PS Audio takes in trade.
Sorry guys!  I apparently had the wrong address.  I know that Theo has been there, so I'm sure his address is better than mine.  That was the address I had on file...
I have done business with them on a few occasions and very nice people to deal with.

The actual address where they handle transactions and warehouse merchandise is:
11705 Teller St., STE B
Broomfield Co 80020

They are fair on their pricing, and I will continue to do business with them. They have a number of local dealers that work with them as well.

Very legit - I stopped in to pick up my Atma-sphere MP-3. It's quite the spread what they have there
Yes, legit. They did negotiate price. Amazing foam packaging if they do not have original packaging. Top notch.  Bought A Threshold component without original box.  Their customized foam insert was molded around the component and was excellent.  I would highly recommend them.

They're very good to deal with. I have purchased used gear and their descriptions were accurate. They won't negotiate price, but will will pay a fair price on trade ins.

I have bought from them a few times.  Not only are they legit, they have quick shipping and offer good products as well.

If you're referring to TMR in Colorado,  yes they are legit. I purchased a used Monitor Audio PLC 350 from them. They went out of their way to send me an upgraded jumper cable, because the original jumper cable didn't come with the center channel. I would purchase from them again.
