The Audio Doctor makes a house call

I would like to contribute  to the discussion about Dave, the “Audio Doctor.”   I live in California but, after many phone conversations and texts where he provided advice about my system with no promise of any return, we decided a trip here from New Jersey would be worthwhile and worked out an arrangement.  Dave brought a lot of accessories for me to audition. First, we repositioned my speakers (KEF Reference 5s), which really improved the sound.  We tried a DAC (Aqua) to compare with my current Auralic Vega (first generation), wireworld interconnects and several other things.  I already had purchased an Innuous Zenith server from Dave and we set that up.  Dave was very enthusiastic about my speakers (which he sells but I already had purchased elsewhere) and my electronics (Audio Research amp, pre amp, phono stage) and never suggested buying new ones.

At no point did I feel he was pressuring me or trying to sell me something just to make a sale.  My system is definitely sounding better now and I may move ahead with some other improvements he recommended. Of course, Dave is in the audio business and makes his livelihood that way but I think he was genuinely interested in helping me get better sound.  I know that some have objected to him and other dealers posting on this board.  Personally, I have found  his postings very helpful.  Those who don’t can always skip over them—no one is forcing you to read anything.

Finally, I met Dave for the first time when he came here and have no connection other than as a recent customer.

>>>>>That’s weird. I didn’t know satellites were susceptible to RF. You know, being up to 26,000 miles above the Earth. I know they are susceptible to micro meteors. I had one of my satellites at NASA hit by one.

Classic Audiotroy.
His response to the criticism that he continually bangs his own drum and promotes his own wares is to provide more drum pounding and promotion. And this time it is even more long winded (if that’s possible) than usual. For those of you who think I’m a party pooper, check Audiotroy’s history and the numerous complaints he has generated on this site with his self promotion, many times on threads specifically limited by an OP to questions about a particular brand which Troy invades to suggest that his product of the moment (which is beyond the OP’s limited query) is better with a long explanation as to why.
I can assure all that, in my years on Audiogon, I have criticized no one on this site except for Troy and the poor fellow that used to (and may still) work for him.
I will mention again for those not in the know that I, and a number of my friends in NYC, used to go to Sound By Singer when he worked there. We all got so tired of listening to Audiotroy regale us ad naseum and his opinions and hard sell tactics, that we asked Andy to provide us with another salesperson. And two of us met each other long after he left Sound By Singer and marveled at our mutual experience. I do not recall ever spending less than 40 minutes hearing him talk before turning on the gear that I came to hear. The only thing worse than putting up with Troy’s bilious excretions here are actually enduring them in person.

He has also used numerous monikers, including Audiooracle (check it out folks), promoting brands without disclosing his dealer status.

That unethical behavior speaks volumes to character.

Chew on that Lalin.
At least Mr feil we dont have clients calling us shams and regretting ever working with us as Stereo5 said about you.

Chew on that Mr Feil

Instead we have happy clients.
First of all, my business closed in 2014. You aren’t very bright though.
Second, no denials from you.
Third, keep chewing chubby.
@geoffkait Well since you can just teleport up there to control the gizmo you would of course be unfamiliar with RF uplinks and RF downlink and of course in the case of things like XM radio enough EIRP to cover most of North America....
but yes space junk can ruin a good day

So you’re proposing shielding the satellite from the very signals it requires to function? That doesn’t sound like a very good idea. The satellite signals are very directional so there are no other radio signals to worry about. Even the uplink and downlink frequencies for each satellite are separated for that very reason, so as not to interfere. As are all satellite uplinks and downlinks separated from each other in frequency. Spectrum management. There is no significant threat from space junk even though there is an enormous amount of it. Only in the movies.

Ta, ta!

Grgr4blu, just read the posts again and quite frankly I can see one of the points you raised about promoting our new discovery.

If you actually spent anytime to understand how I work you would understand that I am effusive and talk to everybody when I find something that is magical, in this case footers.

I do agree that there is a fine line between discussion and promotion, howerver the only way any of us find out anything new to discover is when someone promotes the product via a review, an advert or a discussion.

So yes guilty as charged, we found a game changing product that makes us very excited by the peformance potential that this device adds.

Sorry to be so excited and want to let people know about this product.

Let this thread die please.   Audio Doctor, please do not bring my feelings into your discussion with wcfeil.   That is between you and he.  Keep my quotes out of it!
Actually stereo5 never mentioned any displeasure with the transaction between us 4+ years ago.

Until yesterday.

So I’ll chalk up his post as an emotional response to what he read in this thread.

Pay attention Lalin.
Sorry Stereo 5 we dont like being attacked by this gentleman.

Personally it is the moderators fault comments attacking other members should be banned.

It is really that simple if you dont have anything to add that is constructive then you shouldnt bother reading or replying,

If Audiotroy and WC met in person would a fist fight ensue! That would be sweeeeet!!!!!!
Interesting how Lalin confuses attacks and facts.

However, whatever you say means little audiooracle or audiotroy or audiounethical or audioblowhard, or whatever moniker is convenient today.

I encourage readers to review your “audiooracle" posting history. The other monikers you used escape me at the moment.

"It is really that simple if you dont have anything to add that is constructive then you shouldnt bother reading or replying,"

That would reduce the traffic on this site by a significant margin. Probably why the moderators let them slide through.
@geoffkait a careful read of my initial comment says analog and RF. I suspect you might have no experience engineering, testing and building high power satellites for commercial, agency and black program customers. We are not talking RF to RF, although that is not just as simple as frequency management. I stand by my comments about a Farady cage as a good thing.

have you moved your wall warts yet ?
@wcfeil.........................

You are correct, I have no problems or complaints as to my transaction with you years ago. As a matter of fact, I had the cantilever and stylus tip replaced earlier in the year and am still enjoying the ZU Cartridge.  One of my better purchases.

Why is it that folks oft believe they are the only one in the room with some esoteric experience? I was in satellites longer than you, including black programs, so you save the BS. I was in satellite ops at NASA, pre launch, launch and post orbit,  milsatcom spread spectrum program and designed the first satcom system for the FAA. What I was trying to say is whatever the RF situation is in space it’s orders of magnitude worse here on earth.

have you moved your wall warts yet ?

Yuk, yuk. That was so funny I almost forgot to laugh.
@stereo5

Thanks. I would have recalled any issues with our transaction and understand how this thread might trigger a visceral response. In fact, some participants become angry as they are in total denial and choose to deflect rather than address the issues at hand.

Be well.

@geoffkait congrats on your awesome career, contribution and service to our fine country. My initial and not very esoteric observation about engineers in audio not paying much attention to RF here on earth still holds. Ditto the Faraday cage

but do help me improve my system ? i am all ears....

we can compare resumes over a fine vino sometime, I like domestic and imported...

@invictus005

He shouldn’t be banned. Threatening, abusive, or off color language warrant banning or censoring IMO. Little else would violate my personal (not speaking for anybody else) standards. There’s nothing improper about spirited and emotional discussions. They’re good for the soul and respiratory system.

However, I’ve been a proponent here for years about threads used for self promotion under the guise of “providing information”. Read posts from dealer/manufacturers such as Atmasphere, Ramtubes, Audiokinesis (sp) and you’ll find eloquent behavior coupled with outstanding insight sans self promotion.

The advertising section is here for a reason. The irony is the biggest mouths don’t use it. Instead they strut around like roosters pounding their chests.

All of course. IMO.

My post was deleted? Audiogon, are you denying the Doctor pays you real cash money? Deleting my post is admission of guilt, correct? This post is not in violation of any Audiogon rule.

Well invictus005, I guess the personal standards alluded to in my last post are just that.

Feeling that emotion and spirit now? :-)
Original poster again.  A couple of days ago I  posted a compliment about how constructive and adult this thread was. That was then.  It really has deteriorated.  If I didn’t know better, I would think that some 12 year olds have taken over.  This is supposed to be a fun hobby!   Let’s keep things helpful and positive and stop the personal attacks, which are getting tiresome and add nothing to the conversation.  Some of you—you know who you are—should be embarrassed to take over this discussion with your personal issues.  Thank you to those who have remained on topic and helpful.  Let’s try to keep it that way.

Agreed.

Let’s stop the shameless self promotion and unnecessary shilling at the same time.

To use your words “you know who are”.

The door swings in 2 directions does it not?

Audiotroy does make some valid points in their posts.  But... their participation here in a debate over their posts hurts them as it injects a negativism toward them by their attacks on their detractors.

One rule I never break is to buy from a dealer who just told me how bad parts of my system are and how he will "fix" them with his "superior" gear.  Very off-putting to me.  Not accusing, just opining.

I hope Audiotroy will be cautious about their posts here so it doesn't damage their reputation and their business.  I have NO brick and mortar stores around so I wish them well.  I wish I had local  audio emporiums to visit!
Jones, you are part of the problem. You owe me $10. I doubt that you wlll pay.  Grow up. WC..please stop this silly bickering.   Something is wrong when a plea for civility and constructive, adult behavior still draws critical responses. I’ve about had it with the juvenile, negative attitudes on this board.  I am an amateur audiophile who is trying to learn end enjoy. Both are in short supply on this thread.
Happy thanksgiving to Brownsf, we really appreciate your nice comments and we are delighted that you are enjoying your new server and retuned speakers.

For those that think we are promoting just our products, have a happy Thanksgiving to all even our detractors.

We should all be happy that we here on the forums  all have the opportunity to enjoy such a wonderful hobby and can all be passionate about music and equipment.

A very good point has been made. What if all dealers did what Audio Troy is doing? Once you see one of their posts you know a thread will be twice as long as it should be. Like this one. If we had dozens of audiotroys… can you imagine?

As one customer speaks highly of their service the professional thing do have done was to stay clear of the discussion and allow customers and readers to discuss it amongst themselves.

Self praise is no recommendation. Allow your customers to speak for you.
Roxy your point cuts two ways, first you or anyone else can just not read or reply and its as simple as that.

Two if you didn't have people attacking both us and other posters again there would be no need for rebuttal.

We feel that if we are attacked that we have a right and a duty to respond to such allegations and we will back up our points which then lead to long posts.

If you notice Roxy most people who have acutally picked up the phone and talked to us or have purchased products from us have been extremely happy with what they have purchased and how their systems have progressed.

It is really as simple as that.

You weren’t being attacked. Some posters simply pointed out your self promoting behavior under the guise of “providing information” and the unethical use of multiple monikers, such as audiooracle (amongst others) to solicit business.

“Defend” all you want.

You caused it.
Feil, our old moniker each post said we were dealers, such as we just put out X product in our shop, we were later told to announce in print that we were dealers, and then finally we couldn't restore the password,we never hid the fact that we are dealers.

As per guise of providing information, again we sell products, these products are designed to work to improve a system either via acoustical tunning, vibration/isolation or other such devices.

When a person starts a post  that X brand fuse or a replacement outlet has made a difference in their system it is an open discussion.

If we or any other person or dealer has tested that same product vs any other product and states their opinions on the differences that is furthering the discussion and again it is up to the reader to either contact the dealer or the manufacturer or their local dealer if they have intrest in said product.

In the case of our new footers of course we are going to mention them  for the simple reason that the difference they made in our reference system was huge.

It is up to the reader to see if they want to learn more about that product and that also doesn't mean that anyone has to contact us to do so.

Dave and Troy
Audio Doctor NJ

And again Feil please add to the discussion on your experience with system tunning and what products and methodolgies you use.

We leaned speaker postioning via Dave Wilson and then from Mark Goldeman, as well as John Hunter of Sumiko.

Please elaborate on your thoughts on the subject.

Deny Deflect Defend

In fact you did not disclose that audiooracle was your business until called out on it. I encourage all readers to review that posting history for verification. The timeline of your posts until caught makes it quite clear.

This is about you Lalin, not me. An attempt to turn it around doesn’t change anything. Keep it up though, it only proves my point(s).

LOL

No Feil you are the one trying to deflect,

We know you closed Audiofeil international in 2014 but how come if you google your company nearly nothing comes up?

Now google Audio Doctor and notice the difference. It is clear we have both the products and experiece to talk flequently about audio and to add to these discussions

When asked about your professional audio experience you conviently clam up.

We wonder why that is

Well duh........that’s not a tough one. Even a dull blade like you could figure it out.

Once again, and I realize you’re not too bright (see above), it’s not about me. It’s about you.

LOL
This discussion is about system tuning can anyone possibly comment about their experieces with that topic?
