The Carpenters, Judd’s, Creole Christmas, James Taylor, Larry Carlton, A Very Cherry Christmas, Vince Gill, Pentatonix, Randy Travis, Chet Atkins East Tennessee Christmas, The Statler Bros, Alabama, Michael Bubbly, John Denver...all good. I could go on...
Alice Cooper and his band had a great but little known live bootleg Xmas album; it featured such all time favorites as Santa Claus Is Going To Hell and Rudolph The Dead Reindeer. Neal Smith turned Little Drummer Boy into an impromptu all out jam session.
At last count I own 53 Christmas CDs. One of my favourites is BB King's CD "A Christmas Celebration of Hope" I don't know that I've heard BB voice sound better. Just a terrific recording. When I want to leave the traditional Christmas fare, I go to Merry Axemass: A Guitar Christmas. In particular, Joe Satriani's take on Silent Night / Holy Night. Stunning guitar work. IMHO
They made an album of Elvis singing Christmas songs with artists from a more recent era. One of those songs is I'll be Home for Christmas with Carrie Underwood. To me Elvis sounds fantastic and when they are both singing it's amazing. The name of the album is The Classic Christmas Album. I assume everyone knows Elvis died before Carrie was born.
