So I recently have been on a pursuit of better speakers ...I know its all relative to each individual listener . I am a professional musician and am seeking some powerful depth and clarity for my cavernous living room which will be addressed and treated. 30x11x10 pitched ceiling.
I am polling the Tekton Double Impact owners they're opinions on living with these seemingly beast like cool speakers....after auditioning Harbeth and various others, I remain in a state of inquisitive, insatiable limbo and am ready to forge into some new sound arena....many of these high end speakers just aren't available to demo . What can handle high volume and still hold the presence and clarity / bottom?
my tastes : Prince, all 70's jazz fusion such as Billy Cobham, Return to Forever, Lee Ritenour, Led Zeppelin, Kiss , Miles, Coltrane, Steely Dan , Toto, Jellyfish, Plini, David Maxim Micic , overall its melodic rock / jazz that needs to be sometimes cranked to very high levels especially on "bro night"
My suspicion is that if you mention the name in the post and that person objects the moderators will remove it whether it's abusive or not.
The reason that some peoples posts are removed and not yours is because the person named complained as abuse and you as a someone who doesn't think tattling is a mature way to get you point across didn't.
It's a great tactic if your only point is to look witty in a forum. It's a pretty childish and pathetic way but if you read the posts remaining and you'll see all the immaturity and the insecurity playing out over a long stretch in time.
I have posts removed pertaining to a certain individual all the time and I make a conscious effort to not be directly abusive toward that individual.
My favorite line was " Go away adults are talking". It lasted less than an hour. Was that abusive, I don't think so dismissive but not abuse.
It is what it is. Apparently Tekton is a hot button so a thread about it raises the ire of some while other brands don't. It makes no since to me but apparently Tekton caused them damage somehow and they need revenge.
Merely a couple of folk, of no consequence or experience, that hold a markedly different perspective of ARC products, your scribblings are beginning to appear somewhat 'Agenda ' driven.
@arcticdeth Tekton’s are great ....I really think it depends on what amp is driving them...I had a Lyngdorf 2170 , but when I switched to Manley 100w Snapper Mono blocks the difference was quite staggering in the bottom.
I currently own the Tekton Encores, the DI SE’s were great...also depends what kind of music you listen to ..for deep bottom on EDM or Prog rock I’d almost consider getting a PA if you have a large room . L’acoustics Arcs Wide w subs...you won’t believe how those sound.. :)
spoke with him about the different surrounds used.
He said I can get any surround style I want, either the accordion style or the half roll on the woofers.
I had the cerwin Vega 150 SE, I think, with the black felt on the face of the speaker. 15” wood, 2 mids n a tweeter. They were great, but at techno, or deep bass hits, it would bottom out I would get that (flicking a piece of paper sound)
I went with the at-15 after, and was happy.
Which would be better? Thoughts? sorry to derail this thread.
I am looking at the tektons for my secondary system.
I purchased my
Tekton Double Impacts last November and have been listening to them
every day since. I’ve gotta say, when I play an excellent quality
recording, the audio is simply out of this world. I’ve listened to
the Hans Zimmer Blu ray, Live In Prague with breathtaking results.
It’s a real tour de force for the Double Impacts. Also with
stunning audio quality two SACD discs, Dire Straits Brothers In Arms
and Shangri-La. The audio quality can be positively haunting. There
really isn’t any way to appreciate these or any other speakers
other than with first hand listening. I took a chance when I
purchased the Tektons as I had never heard them. I consider the
Tektons one of the best audio purchases that I have ever made. I am
using a Denon AVRX4400H receiver with excellent results.
I just got my set of Double Impacts. I’m running them with a Lass Labs X250, Audible Illusions Modulus 3B, Music Hall 9.1 with the 9.3motor upgrade and a SoundSmith Aida cartridge. The speakers are amazing. For me the test of a good speaker is if they do large classical music well. I don’t like classical music and normally listen for about 5 minutes and turn it off. With the Double Impacts, I listened to 2 full albums. I was in Symphony Hall. Enough said in my opinion.
d2girls, Hi, it’s grandpa. I am surprised you are still at it. So much anger, hostility, and I am guessing you heard a pair, set up properly in a room, with excellent ancillary gear, and made your comments based on that. Once again, I am seeing that side of you, that you said you were working on. Please, for your sake, delete your posts, as you do not want to be a troll. Trolls are not welcome here....Plus, calling people 1/2 deaf, if they own them, is immature, ignorant, and far from professional. With comments like this, you do not belong on the Audiogon forums. And please, do not personally email me, as last time, thank you. When you are nice, I will be nice. Enjoy ! MrD.
@tommypenngotti just curious how the Tekton speakers are treating you? Still digging them? I auditioned the Electrons, but ultimately decided they weren't for me.
@audionoobie - I'm loving them , although I go through a weekly rant discussion with my sound engineer who recently bought the Harbeth 30.1s . He claims they are the most superior speaker in every way and speakers like the DI SEs are "hyped" :) I think they sound great , but Im still investigating them, my system is not 100% complete yet...thanks

Very difficult to tell by looking at them. The dimensions are slightly larger & weight heavier on SE's. Look on Tekton's site for exact specs... Posts are beautiful gold heavy duty....
How would you be able to tell the regular Tekton DI’s from the DI SE version if you were just looking at them? Additionally, What do the posts look like on the upgraded version?
Great report, tommypenngotti! I was pretty confident that you would love them, and I am glad that has turned out to be the case. The SE's are incredibly dynamic, with startling clarity. Say 'hello' to Van Halen for me:)
I hope you enjoy the SE's for a long time. They'll reward any improvements you make in your system now and in the future.
Ok , so the Tekton DI SE's showed up flawless ....not a scratch to be found. The cabinets are beautiful (although quite large) they suit me perfectly (big speaker , big sound) Hooked them up to my Marantz PM-11S1 and then my Sony STR-V7 . They are amazing . The first thing I noticed was the sound field and clarity was just unreal . The lows were very powerful and I really don’t think I need a sub. It honestly at times felt like Van Halen was in my living room . I’m still experimenting with EQ/ Sound treatment etc....so far pretty darn happy , thanks for all your guys help! (Extra special thanks to waltersalas ;)
eldonparet. Yes, which Tekton speakers have you heard? And not at a show, as most speakers don’t really showcase as well as a home setup or proper location. Also ugly? Well to each their own. I like the 8 tweeter look. It’s different.
