Talon Khorus

Found a pair locally.  They are asking $2000.  The gentleman believes they were from 2001.  Badging on the back simply says Khorus.  Have not had a chance to see them up close yet.

thoughts?

not at all sure what prof is talking about.

That link to the review did not provide a link to the measurements. Here are the measurements:

You should see what I’m talking about there ;-)

I once had the smaller stand-mounted version of the Talon speaker, their sort of "mini-Khorus," to evaluate. Those speakers were so bad, sounded so odd, muffled and colored I literally thought they must be broken. (Turns out they weren't broken...that was just their sound).
Okay I will say that I heard them at an audio show in NYC a few years back and I thought they sounded pretty good. I'm not sure what version I heard, I understand that there were actually a few versions with changes made in the crossover over the years, but the ones I heard must have been the latest iterations as it wasn't all that long ago, it was certainly after 2004.
Thanks everyone for the input.  Sounds like the guy took them in trade for a payment of some work.  I am not sure he has listened to them himself.  He said he got them from the owner's sister who didn't listen to them either.  I wasn't sure of he was talking about the owner of Talon or the owner of the company he did the work for.

Owned them - V2 version. Decent speaker for $4000 grand used about 14 years ago. I think they sound good for no more than $1200 used today.
I remember the Talons making a huge splash in 2002-2004 or so and then just as quickly vanishing. Hey didn't seem to have much staying power
@prof "I was dumbfounded by how sheerly awful they were."

+1.  If you like the way they look, you will fall in love with them until you hear them.  Like a lot of loudspeakers, if you know what you're doing, you can do a lot to improve them by going through the crossover.  But I've met scant few people who actually understand what they're doing, including most loudspeaker manufacturers
I would say: caution.  Talon speakers were a divisive speaker.  At least at that time some people raved them up as the next best thing - sort of the Tekton speakers of their day.

When I got to audition some Talon speakers I was dumbfounded by how sheerly awful they were (so colored it was ridiculous...and I seem to remember they measured poorly in the Soundstage measurements, to the point of some controversy).

YMMV...
