best SVS subwoofer for music?

paulherry

I had a couple and of the 1000 series and was happy with them in a music applicaiton.  the new Pro series has a phone ap so you can tune it from your listening chair.  I'd go with 1 or 2 of the 1000 series unless I listened really loud.

REL makes very musical subs, and I can personally attest to that.  SVS is supposed to be their main competitor in the "musical sub" category

I was using a pair of SVS SB4000 subs with my Thiel CS6 speakers.   They integrated fairly well giving me that last bottom octave.  Since going to the Wilson Sasha DAW speakers I can now see how the subs used with the Thiels did not integrate perfectly between 20-50 Hz but perhaps if I had played around with room setup more I could have made it better.  One thing, the subs make it easy to get the bass you want while being conveniently placed where you want- at least 95% there I would say.  Using the phone app to set phasing and levels is very handy.

Be sure to check out the subwoofer guide on the SVS website.  Plug in your speakers and the SVS app will tell you the best subs to match your speakers as well as other settings.

I’ve been running a single SVS SB-4000 with my Klipsch RF-7 III for a while now, and honestly, it’s a fantastic match for music. The sealed design keeps the bass tight and controlled, and it blends really well with the dynamics of the RF-7 III. I mostly listen to jazz and classic rock and it never feels boomy just clean deep bass that supports the mains.

Any of the sealed models will be best for music.

Size depends on desired volume level, musical style and room size.

Also, remember to plug the ports of your mains if they have any.

Agree to go with sealed over ported, and get two subs if you have the space as the benefits of two subs will very likely outweigh spending the same on one more expensive sub.  For example, I’d get two SB1000 Pro subs over one SB3000.  Just my $0.02 FWIW, and best of luck.

Incidentally you’d be better off posting this under the Speakers category instead of Music as you’ll get more responses.
