Audio Classics mentioned above will also be a possible source for power conditioning for your mcIntosh. a Furman PF15i for $150 is a great deal I have two of them, love em
If you want a pair of big, full-ish range floorstanders, the JBL Studio 590s are on Cyber-Monday sale right now for 50% off, with free shipping and a 30 day return policy. Direct from JBL.com. $449 each. So, only $900 delivered to your door. But only if you order in the next 4 hours. But don't worry if you miss the sale. They go on sale for $1000/pr pretty regularly.
thanks i fear i may be in search for a sound that i experienced in the 80's with my giant infinitys loved the imagery they had they had ribbon tweeters and also mid range
celto, Audio Classics in Binghamton NY sells Mac speakers, so you may want to contact them. I bought a pair of Quad 2905's from them a while ago and they told me that my Quad's out performed any other pair of speakers they've carried including the MacIntosh.Aside from the various other Quad options, I'd suggest looking at a pair of Monitor Audio with ribbon tweeters. For the money they are well regarded and I've heard great things about their Platinum series.
i Agree didnt do it for me... i used to have the big infinitys bi amped with adcoms dp 3500 dd turntable with moving coil cartidge that was around 1980 thought it was prettty good i was there once,,,,, having fun gettting back to it not rushing things
I dislike B&W speakers. The ones I've heard -- even the top of the line -- have always sounded boxy and congested. I doubt they take much pride in their products, because the company has been around for a long time and has not achieved much. They spend a lot on marketing, though, and therefore sell lots of speakers. Just my experience.
good morning yes thank you they are def on my listening list ......i am in va....so should be able to do that......finishing up my built ins glass shelves with lots of ventilation that amp puts out a lot of heat anyone paired up mac stuff with them?
One on my friends has the Philharmonic 3 speakers paired with AVA electronics they are truly outstanding in all aspecs. If you contact Dennis he maybe able to find someone near you with a pair to audition.
hello all got all the receptacles wired into my cabinets,,,,question i want to install a surge protector sound conditioner,,,,to protect my mac stuff we get a lot of bad storms here.. read about an ART for 159.00 all the way up,,,, realistically my old ears after thousands of hours of flying probably cant tell much difference in these any suggestions..like to keep it under 500 thanks
thanks rather what i was thinking these are very old speakers and will only be using them until i make my decision to what im going to get,,i found an original one bay but not sure of the condition looks beat been trying to find some specs as to model number on it but no joy
hello all thanks for all the suggestions getting around to listen to a lot of stuff quick question i have lost one of my woofers on a KLh 22,,,can i replace it with any 8" 8 ohm woofer?thanks
I would suggest you take your time and audition as many models as you can, within the range of prices and speaker sizes you can accommodate. Lots of good suggestions (above), you may also want to listen to the Harbeth's, KEF's, Quad's, Magnapan's, Martin Logan's, Wilson's to name a few.
