We have about same power, 50 watt class A audio hungary. Be careful on efficiency you don’t want any regrets. I had pulsars with this amp sounded very nice but better with more power and current.    I like the reference 3a Decappo’s and Reflector...
Cable vs fiber for audio quality
All this is now good to know. My main concern was it would be bright, I can’t do screaming at me bright.   I placed my order to be installed Monday. I know to some this maybe an odd question but will this new modem/router need break in. I owned ...
Buying Used Speakers
I would not trust FedEx,UPS to ship floorstanding  speakers no matter how nice the box is.   Light monitors have a better chance in a soft foam skeleton double boxed, dense foam can lead to issues. Heavy dense small boxes are prone to damage, hea...
Music Hall Maverick SACD Player repair
You could call Digital Rehab in Slidell La. which was Wilson Audio a Audio Research dealer and repair center for many years in New Orleans.   I owned the Maverick 15 years ago it would let out a very loud noise out of nowhere and cause me to jum...
Starting a second system, need efficient speaker suggestions.
With a couple subs and 4or 5k you could look at some used Reference 3a Reflectors. They disappear and dig deep.
Upgrades and repairs on hi fi components
If your close to New Orleans area Digital Rehab can work on about anything. They were Wilson audio in New Orleans for 40 years but downsized and moved across the lake to Slidell. They were Audio Research repair center and dealer. I would rather dr...
Moving into an apartment with wood joist floors - worried about neighbors hearing
I would not introduce myself to neighbors and tell them about my system, I think that’s asking for trouble. I would let things fall as they may, deal with issues as they come. Enjoy your new home and your system and be as courteous as you can whil...
Dog pissed on speaker
Covering odor does no good, you need a solution that has microscopic bugs to eat the source of the odor. Call a large commercial janitorial supply company that sells to municipalities and hotels. If you talk to somebody knowledgeable they will kno...
How does a preamp die from sitting unused for a few months?
Didn’t read all post so if this was mentioned disregard. Did you check the wires coming off the IEC for cold solder joint. Follow that and see where it goes for bad connection.your definitely not getting power to the rails.I doubt it but handling ...
Cable upgrades
There are to many good cables to suggest just a few. So I will just go with an unknown oddball brand that can sound as good as $2000 to $3000 cables for $100 to $200 used.   TImeportal is a copper silver wire. The heavy speaker cables were $2000...
Cable Break In for the Naysayers
If some disagree in cable break in then they will certainly frown at a pair of speaker cable that sat in a closet over a year. I decided to put back in a system last Thursday and sounded terrible. I’ve run them 24/7 and just checked on them little...
Cable Break In for the Naysayers
I would say for any naysayers buy anything with rhodium. If you want an example of extreme break in, all naysayers should buy a Furutech rhodium NCF outlet.
Sub $1000 DAC with AKM chip
Pick up a RME it has bass and treble knobs also a eq and different filters. I’m sure she’s not picky on soundstage. If you do pick up one get the one with bass and treble buttons on the remote.
Static electricity and my Denafrips do not get along
Carlsbad2, solder a banana on to my solid core wire and cram it into an outlet is a smart idea may go with that one, I think I have old cheap Furutech power plug in a box somewhere I could connect my one wire to earth ground and plug it in the wal...
Static electricity and my Denafrips do not get along
Carlsbad2, that’s what I thought too, I thought about taking the hot and neutral and breaking pins off on a power cord and only using ground in the wall and a while coming off iec outlet on cord but wasn’t sure if that was a good way to go. Or jus...
