Start with lamp cord and get them working.
It’ll at least give you an affordable base line.
Speaker cable recommendations
I have a Hegel H-390 and Dynaudio Heritage Specials which have great synergy. Any recommendations for speaker cables that maximize that synergy? I am hoping to find a cable that is also a good balanced solution price wise as opposed to a cable that retails for as much as the two components. Thanks for any help with this first world problem , as I do feel really blessed to have finally found such a great sounding system after my 55 years of enjoying my stereos.
What cables are you using now? What’s not working for you now? Your speakers are $7k retail, right? Best to answer member @spenav ’s question first to get help. Depending on what guidelines you follow, i.e. 15% is just over a grand on speaker cables. If you are looking for a simple baseline, sorry, the HomeDepot zipcord gimmick is unshielded low grade twisted copper with no dialectric, junk, sounds grainy, unresolving, a total waste of time and $ imo. If you have nothing now, you could at least start with Cardas 101 speaker cable for $6.75 per foot as a baseline test. They can’t make the stuff fast enough. A cheap start option. Keep speaker cable length short to save $. Perhaps you can reveal your max budget first if you don’t want to send yourself and others in a tailspin asking general synergy questions.

+1 The Cardas, Mogami, or a handful of others have decent cables, and add in ends from a variety of manufactures and it gets to be a large number of combinations. |
I've got some Morrow Audio SP6 cables which I am very happy with, running between PS Audio M700 monoblocks and Wharfedales...you're right about the synergy, but you won't know until you try, and they will let you return them if you're unhappy w/them. I agree w/the poster above who said the lower level AQs are not really very good, esp their speaker cables. If you wanna spend more money, look into VooDoo, SR, and/or Shunyata. I have some Syn Res interconnects, and they are fantastic. Ditto for VooDoo |
