I use Dexibel X pro, and like it. But note that with Android, unlike Apple products, different manufacturers have different microphone sensitivities. So this means that the sound level meter apps need to be calibrated to be accurate. I do this with an inexpensive sound level meter...but maybe you should just get a sound level meter. The . BAFX Products SPL Meter gets good reviews for accuracy for a lower cost unit. Or consider a Dayton Audio IMM-6 calibrated mic to plug into your phone for use with a SLM app. Good luck! |
IMPORTANT if you lay your phone down to get db readings: The microphone is located on the low edge of the android phone, therefore you must aim the low edge of the phone towards the speakers to get reliable db readings. I used to have the top edge of the cellphone facing the speakers and the readings were way off. |
Thanks to all: @audio_guy_uofw Yes, I agree that a inexpensive sound level meter may be an option. Thanks for the lead on BAFX Products. @baylinor - Good point. I can imagine the frustration this mistake has cause more than a few... |
Highly recommend this USB C microphone from Dayton. You can download the calibration file from their site and then use it with Audio Tools. If you are lucky enough to still have a headphone jack you can use the slightly less expensive version here. |
