This show seems to be on track to be held in Denver CO Oct 8-10 at the Gaylord Convention Center.
Wondering if past attendees would comment on if they felt going to this show, at this venue is worthwhile as a hifi hobbyist.
I have read the site is nice but very spread out, resulting long walks, elevator rides, long lines. Of course the virus situation might change some of this.
As I am getting back into this to upgrade my system, I am thinking about attending.
Being a local show for me RMAF is a highlight for each year that I attend. Demo ' Rooms ' abound, and unusual aural experiences are consistently good (worthwhile). For me the show allows for more immersion into possibilities and reinforcement of the 'Art of Reproduction'. Gaylord Convention Center is sprawling but a little planning can go a long way toward help focus on any point of specific interest. The RMAF Show is as worthy as any and possibly a better choice for first hand experience.
Yes. I have attended every year since the first show. This will be the first year that I will not be attending due to health issues, but I am ok with it. I have spent enough so far that I don’t need the temptation! Two years ago they move down to the Gaylord which was a vast improvement over the Marriott. The only down side is, the Gaylord is huge and they had it spread seemingly to all the far reaches of the complex and I seriously think I walked 3 or more miles back and forth. But if you haven’t been, you owe it to yourself to go, I will miss the conversation and learning experience in talking to the manufacture reps. Plus if you haven’t ever been to a Gaylord, that’s an experience in itself.
Thanks all who have replied. I will watch developments over the next few weeks, may make the trek to be there. I heard the last show in LA was a big bust, perhaps too early in the C19 recovery.
I cannot speak for the new venue but have been to probably a dozen shows at the old Marriott (and volunteered to help Marjorie and the gang many years) and can say the show itself is very good with a lot of exhibitors.
RMAF The Gaylord center is the best place for an audio show and I have been to many! I have tickets for this one but I believe it will have a smaller number of exhibitors due to virus. The resort is amazing and rooms are discounted.
i bet the plug gets pulled on this... just not worth the risk
also, usually exhibitors sign up well beforehand... fairly few add on last minute... but with c19 upon us, i guess all past patterns may be rendered obsolete as predictors of current behaviors

Back then, we somehow imagined that as a country, we could band together and transcend COVID-19, and our lives could return to normal. We hoped we could ride out a year in isolation and emerge healthy and ready to gather again. Here at RMAF, we spent the year improving our business by producing new room layouts with all the outlets marked, and created a handbook to guide exhibitors as they learned yet again to navigate their exhibitor accounts. We imagined ourselves enthusiastically greeting our audio industry friends in a few weeks, and we’ve held onto that dream in spite of our nervous fears and scary news reports.”
“Even though some parts of the United States are fully open, the number of people contracting the virus, and the number of deaths attributed to it are still rising, and the CDC is projecting an even more deadly Lambda wave this fall. We are frightened on behalf of our friends in the audio industry on many levels. The very worst thing that we can envision is for someone to fall ill because they came to our show, whether as an exhibitor, a journalist, an attendee, or a volunteer. Good health is a precious gift, and we are learning that although recovery is possible, the residual effects of COVID-19 and its variants can be profound, and we are unwilling to risk even one case.”
