Ideally yes, but after getting a dramatic sound shift even from a surge protector, I'm guessing each component brings its own baggage to the party to some extent. I'll look in to the Running Spring gear. |
Primarily I'm looking for robust surge supression (beyond just MOV's) that doesn't add its own sonic influence. Filtering would also be nice, but I'm using a Porter ported dedicated circuit that doesn't sound bad by itself. |
Hopefully a line condition will create an environment with no sound signature as far as power goes. Then them music can come through.
"Conditioners" are not the best way to go. The units that provide clean balanced power are better.

I'm using a BPT 3.5 Signature to excellent effect.
It DOES NOT reduce dynamics in my system. It does provide a palpable, almost eerie depth and width to my soundstage compared with my old AC conditioning units.
AC conditioning is a very subjective topic, sometimes giving rise to well argued opinions that are in complete opposition to one another.
I suggest finding a manufacturer with a "money-back" trial period and putting some units through their paces. In this case especially, YMMV. |

Any experience with the PS Audio Ultimate Outlet? From what I've read most conditioners take some warmth from the system for whatever else they may add. Since the UO is stated just to condition upper end frequencies, maybe it would keep the warmth in the lower freqs? |
I have tried several, I think about 8 or more and the best by far is the one I have now and hope to keep. The BPT 3.5 Plus. It even made my tuner tune better, honest. If money is a factor I would go with the UO, as already said from PS Audio. For the money they are great and do wonders with ground loops which not many can do. Randy |

Have you considered installing panel mounted Series Mode (no MOV's) surge protector at your Mains panel? Try www.zerosurge.com (model PM20-120) for ~$220. I've read that surge protection is much more effective at the Mains than downstream near equipment. All power cond are system dependent, imho. Demo b4 you buy. Mike |
