Oppo Ceasing production

Just visited Oppo's web site.  They are ceasing production of all their products and will only do warranty work and firmware support for their products.  They no longer have the resources to manufacture new products.  Didn't see this one coming.

Not a joke. It’s real. Still wondering why they don’t want to sell. Must be using it for a tax write-off.
Ive been telling everyone to buy a BDP 105 for a few years now! Are we sure this isnt a April Fools joke??? Although when you think about it...How many people are spinning Discs? Oppo sold a lot of those BDP105’s. If Oppo is no longer selling, this makes a Sony PS4 a lot more valuable imo.
I'm very sorry to hear this. Not always a fan of all their products, but I certainly love my BD player.

Clearly seem to be doing other things though...
"Chinese smartphone maker Oppo has been given green clearance to set up a mobile manufacturing unit in Greater Noida at a cost of Rs 2,200 crore, a senior government official said.

The Union Environment Ministry has granted the environment clearance to its Indian subsidiary Oppo Mobiles India Pvt Ltd for the proposed project."

Weird.  At this point, with as many years as I have in this sector, nothing surprises me anymore.

I absolutely adore my Sonica DAC.  Was hoping for MQA to be added, but apparently that won't happen...
Perhaps their financial backers pulled the plug on the operation.  I am quite sad because I was planning on buying a 205 later this year. to replace my Sony BD player which is at least 12 years old.
I did not see this coming at all.....this is indeed a very sad news. I guess they couldn’t keep the operation profitable.
I am not really worried about support and updates at this point.  What worries me is that a company like Oppo, with a superb value proposition, can't stay in the game.  I get the whole physical media being dead argument.  But why not jump the shark?  They are saying they are going to cease production of products, not just physical media.  This is just weird.
Do you worry about product support and updates? They are promising to provide ongoing support, but what incentive do they have?
I saw this too.  Very strange indeed.  I bought a 205 a couple of months ago and am glad I got one when I did.  I can't say I saw this coming.
Why wouldn’t they sell the operation? This isn’t about resources, it’s about strategic business decisions. Very strange.
