OMG - I am just investigating ‘tweaks’ to improve my audio system.

Everyone:

i have been been using Audiogon to educate myself on trying to improve my audio systems ( yes I have two systems - one in my main living area and one in my man cave ). I actively buy used equipment on Audiogon and I use the discussion boards to educate myself on how to best improve my sound. I just specifically asked for help on implementing the ‘new orange fuse from SR in my main system on another thread that apparently just got shut down ! To clarify comments made on the thread that is now closed - I am only looking to replace fuses that I have access to on the outside of my system components. I am not opening up any equipment. I am not qualified to do this - I am a Chemist who loves music! Audiogon discussion boards have improved my sound in the last 6 months to a level that is ‘over the Moon great’. I now use Anticable for my interconnects and speaker wire, Furman Elite 15 Power Conditioner, High Fidelity Cables MC 0.5 Power Conditioner.  I upgraded my Maggie 1.6 qrs- they are now Peter Gunned - midrange vocals are the best I have ever heard!

the people hear that have helped me - you know who you are - elizebeth - nonoise - thanks again for the help!

i asked for help directly from Oregonpapa concerning the SR Orange fuse just released - but I got the thread killed I guess - sorry. Not my intent. I just wanted to buy the correct fuse that I can access without opening up my equipment. I listed my specific equipment earlier - but the only fuses I have access to are:

Krell KAV 400 xi - one fuse port labeled AGC 8 - this integrated amp is out of warranty and 9 years old - still sounds great
Maggie 1.7i - type 3AG 4 amp max

any help would be appreciated!

Dear @tom8999 : This is today snake oil in fuses. We can read there in what ways change our system characteristics. It's as if we change the whole system for a totally new higher priced one. Way better than any other fuse in the world:

Maybe the orange with beeswax could outperform it.

Btw, you can start a new fuse thread with the beeswax ones and follow again the fuse'e party, a learning party.

Regards and enjoy the MUSIC NOT DISTORTIONS,
R.

I do not have any fuses in my (low power) system or even any place to put one. Please, no comments from the peanut gallery. Is it possible that no fuse is better than the Orange fuse? I think it probably is. Would two Orange fuses in series be better than one Orange fuse? Hmmmmm? 🤔

I am still on the fence and have not ordered anything as yet.
Don’t get sucked in, just use the one that came new with the Krell KAV 400 xi, Krell aren’t stupid they know what works best as they are EE design technicians and not voodooist. Save your money for something real like an equipment upgrade instead.
There’s reason why many of these snake oil fuse threads get shut down.

Tom, the best tweak for your audio system is a bottle of wine. The problem with this tweak is everything sounds like ---- the next day.

>>>>I’ll give it a shot. What do you do, pour it on the amplifier?
"Tweaks" in my day were always cheap using everyday items. For example, I wrap masking tape around the glass part of the fuse. Don't let tape touch metal. Big improvement for practically free.

Jerrybj - thanks for the input on the Orange fuses you just got into your system. I am still on the fence and have not ordered anything as yet. My Krell KAV 400xi just got sent back to Krell for service - developed a ‘hum’ at higher volumes after 15 years of use. Hopefully it is repairable. I am on hold until this issue is corrected.
Initial review of the SR Orange fuses:

Base stronger - seems to hang in the air.
Instrument separation more discernible.
Again, hearing things in tracks I'd never heard before.

Wish I had longer, but gotta work some!

Perhaps a budding System Builder!  :)

Don't stop at the Moon. Systems can be taken "light years" beyond. You want to hear a universe of sound; it's there for the taking.  :)

Have added a significant number of tweaks over the past 18 months. Some more effective than others.
Just bought 3 x SR Orange fuses.
2 for my Perreaux R200i
1 for my heavily modded Beresford SEG Dac.
Eagerly await their arrival.

Replacing 2 x SR Black and 1 x SR Red.

Can't respond to other posts, which is a tad frustrating.

@tom8999-   Replacing your source's 12V wall-wart, with the Teddy power supply, should make a major improvement in presentation.   If you shop; you may find one used, at(hopefully) a substantial savings.  Also: Michael Spallone may have ideas, on making upgrades to what you have now.  He does wonders with power supplies, like the Synergistic MPCs.  Shoot him a PM, if interested:   https://www.audiogon.com/messages/new?recipient_id=275763&layout=true
Thanks - apparently someone on the old thread thought I was going to disassemble my Krell integrated and electrocute myself. I will probably go ahead and use the less expensive silver inserts and jumper for the Magnapans from Mike Powell audio.
Just pull the fuses out of your gear note the values and order the corresponding values from SR.
BTW - Rodman 99999 thanks for the comments on the closed thread and the link to a Teddy Power Conditioner.
