Mytek Liberty vs Chord Qutest

Looking for a DAC to use with a vintage CD player ( California Audio Lab Icon).
Trying to conserve funds.  Deciding between Chord Qutest vs Mytek Liberty and less likely AudioLab M dac plus.
Has anyone sampled the above?
Is the Qutest worth the extra 600 dollars?
Have also heard an upgrade in power supply for Liberty can bump it up further.
Any thoughts?
Thanks

I bought a Mytek Liberty 2 on ebay - good deal without remote or box.  My first listen it was very clear and detailed but not engaging.  I went back a couple days later and might have been about realize it was just my mood but then the right channel dropped out.  Three pairs of ears and three preamps later there is definitely a problem with the RCA outputs.  Seller says he used XLR.  Still trying to test XLR.  Meanwhile I posted a ticket on Mytek's site and I've heard nothing but crickets for a week.  Does anyone know if Mytek is still in business?

I tried the Liberty among others and bought the Cutest. For my ears the Chord was warmer and more pleasing.
I currently have a Mytek Manhattan II a Chord Qutest and a Woo Audio WDS 1 Reference DAC. If you don’t need all the options that the Mytek Offers..I can say the Qutest is only bested by My Mytek in terms of squeezing out more resolution and dynamic range. Both are very musical in different ways. I would not hesitate on the Qutest at its price point. I don’t think any thing comes close especially if your willing to purchased a use Qutest.  I have also owned the  following in the last couple of years...Exogal Comet, and Wadia 321 so I have had my share of fairly different DACs to compare.  If order of preference in musicality I would say...Qutest, Woo Audio, Mytek, Exogal & Wadia.  If order of sound stage dynamics and imaging...Mytek, Qutest, Exogal, Woo Audio and Wadia.  Of course different systems will have different strengths and weaknesses so your mileage may vary.
Save $1100 and get a Pro-Ject Pre Box S2 Digital. I bought the Qutest as an intended upgrade but it doesn't sound any better than the Pro-Ject.
Qutest is probably better, at least to my ears.  A smoother more liquid presentation.
I have the Liberty with an upgraded power supply. It's a decent DAC, a little sterile for my tastes. No experience with the Qutest. In that price range I'd suggest giving consideration to the MHDT Labs Orchid.
