Hey guys, thanks for all of your responses. Definitely looking for a warmer sounding pre to soften my tiled environment and the brighter sound of the CLS’s.
Will look at all of the suggestions.

My advice, buy the Schiit Freya+, try it in your system as it's the only way you will know if it's good, and if you don't like it return it. See Schiit policy below: 😎 Mike 5-Year Warranty and Easy Return Policy Freya+ is covered by a 5-year limited warranty that covers parts and labor. One exception: the tubes. Those we cover for 3 months. And if you don’t like your Freya, you can send it back for a refund, minus 5% restocking fee, within 15 days of receiving it.

I'm using the Robert Grodinsky Research RGR-4 as my main preamp. List price $650. I bought mine used on eBay for $200. Sonically competitive with any of today's expensive - and overpriced! - preamps. Mr. Grodinsky was a talented engineer whose main business was the company RG Dynamics for the pro audio market. His first preamp was the RG Dimension 3. That evolved into the RGR-4. I have many preamps - both tube and transistor - in my collection. Yet I choose to use this one! |
