Help choosing an power amplifier

Hello everybody

I starting my journey last fall, so far Ive been loving it, I need some suggestions on what power amplifier to get, to get the best out of the speakers that I have right now and maybe upgrade in the future, I was thinking on buying the emotiva 2 Channel amplifier but im not sure if that’s the best way to go any suggestions will be great.

my set up right now
Audio technica AT-LP120-USB
b&w 606 s2
emotiva integrated amplifier basx A300
Cambridge audio cxn v2
I’m using Qbouz with Roon thru a MacBook Pro I am streaming over Ethernet.
Thank you for all the help beforehand

I ALWAYS suggest a BAT VK-300SE or the update VK-3000SE. The 3000SE is preferable only because it's hard to tell how old a 300SE might be. You can call BAT and give them the serial number to get date-of-manufacture.
These integrateds are designed by a Master and just sound "right" musically. You can usually find one between 2000-3000 dollars.
As these drop below 4 Ohms I’d suggest something that is rated / measured between 60 and 240 Watts per channel into 4 Ohms, depending on your room and desired volume levels..  B & W’s typically work best with s.s. amps. That B & W purchased Classe’ suggests they are a good pairing.
Depends on the size of your room, how loud you listen and how much power you want/need.  Given that B&W is a challenging load with a forward sound profile, a warmer amp that handles lower impedances would be ideal.

For lower power I would look at Naim, for higher power I would look at AVM.  These two brands match well with B&W, Focal, Magico, etc... where you have challenging loads in terms of impedance and need a warmer sound profile.
I am using a $1500 D-Sonic M3a 800s Class D amp to drive a very hard to drive Thiel CS3.7. It is not as crystal clear as my Benchmark AHB2 ($3000) but it is much better suited power wise for the hard to drive CS3.7. It is also a little warmer than the AHB2.

I was only planning to use this amp as a short term amp until I bought a more expensive amp ($6K - $16K range). However, I will keep my money in my pocket for a bit longer because this amp is growing on me.
So, it looks like you have an Emotiva TA 100 integrated right now. In your original post I also see something about the emotiva basx A300 stereo amplifier. I’m not sure if you are currently running the A300 with your integrated or if you are interested in adding an A300 or similar stereo amp but I might make another suggestion. How about a higher quality, more powerful integrated?

The Parasound hint 6 ($2995) is a well regarded option and Safe and Sound usually has open box units around $2549. At 240 watts x2 @ 4ohms it would see you through the next couple speaker upgrades.

If that’s too expensive the Outlaw Audio RR2160MKII for $999 is a really solid option with 165 watts at 4 ohms.

I am also a fan of the Yamaha integrated amplifiers and they have cost options at about any pricepoint. Hifiheaven is a Yamaha dealer and they have treated me pretty well regarding the trade in program if you have some gear you want to put towards the upgrade.

All these options have built in DACs as well so I don’t think you would be losing anything connectivity wise. On a side note I started with Emotiva gear as well and I have nothing against them. The low price points are great for getting people into the hobby. Good luck with the rig. Looks like a nice set up so far from your system page.
You did not signify what your budget is and this is an off topic recommendation. Have you considered buying a dedicated streamer. The right streamer might give you a big sonic lift getting away from a noisy computer source.
thank everybody for the good insights I really appreciate all the help

@tuberist I do have a dedicated streamer is a Cambridge audio cxn v2. Right now I am using the MacBook Pro as a Roon core, thinking on “upgrading” in the fire to a intel nuc with Roon rock.

@guy-incognito  thank yes you are right right now I am driving the speakers with the emotiva ta 100o had it for about 4 months, I was thinking of adding the amplifier A300 but I am not sure that I want to do that, I do would like a higher quality and more power. I will defenderlo look I. To your suggestions. If you have any more more advice I would love to hear it thanks
It really just comes down to your budget and how far you plan to take things. If you are trying to buy new and keep it under $500, adding the current model emotiva basx a2 might be the right way to go.

If your budget is larger though, trading in the Emotiva integrated towards something else might be the ticket.  That would certainly be the option I would explore before dropping $1100 on an Emotiva XPA 2 (for example).
Hello edwincruz!  Look into the Starke AD4.320. It's a four channel class D amp as good as the Purifi modules used in the NAD33 and now the M298 that are getting rave reviews. I have two Purifi EVAL1 packages (two power amp modules with a Purifi front end to make a stereo power amp - no power supply and no cabinet) and three of the Starke amp. running an 11 channel system (two 4 way stereo front speakers + 2 rears + front in a 5.0 system). The Starkes are bridgable to give you a stereo power amp with 320 wpc into 8 ohms. All forms of distortion are extremely low. The Starkes are complete amps, plug & play ready to go, balance and unbalanced inputs. Priced very reasonably, these amps are unbeatable. I have four other systems in the house (I love building loudspeaker systems) and am planning on putting Starkes into all of them. I learned about them in summer of 2019 and got the Purifi EVAL1s by 2020 and compared them directly to the Starkes. The differences are so slight as to be almost  questionable. If anything the trebles are very slightly smoother with the Starkes. The switching is 50 Khz higher than the Purifi units.
@verdantaudio

my room size is 16 foot by 11foot 8 feet tall

I like to listen at higher to medium volumes

i would like to upgrade the 606 s2 in the future.
I have looked At all the suggestions but still not sure where to go from here hahah. I have also ask Crutchfield customer service what they would suggest and also audio advice, Crutchfield suggested to get Rotel RB-1552 MkII (power amp)
audio advice suggested the RA-1572 Integrated Amplifier. Has anybody had any experience with this brand? Is it any good?

My budget right now could be up to $2000
I was leaning over to get the parasound hint 6 but Crutchfield customer service advices not to because is too much power for this speakers. Is this true?

Out of all the suggestions and reading alittle bit more I think I need to get an integrated amplifier to replaced the emotiva and then later on get a power amplifier. (If I feel the need)

thanks Gain for all the help
Crutchfield doesn't sell Parasound so it's no wonder they recommended something else. The hint 6 would be a great step up and would work well with your speakers now and would also allow you to upgrade speakers later if you want without needing a more powerful integrated. You will have a little headroom but it's not a crazy mismatch for your speakers. Set a max volume limit on the integrated (when you are sober) and you won't ever have any problems.

I am running a Parasound JC5 (400 watts @ 8 ohm) with Revel F208s (recommended wattage 50 to 350) and I have no issues. Parasound makes good gear and that Hint 6 would serve you well.
I bought my Parasound JC5 from safeandsoundhq.com and they have open box and b-stock deals regularly on Parasound gear. Music Direct is also a Parasound and Rotel dealer and they do trade-ins if you think you might want to trade in your emotiva towards either of those options.
I would look at a Rogue Audio Sphinx and I would roll in a set of NOS Mullard driver tubes.  This will deliver plenty of power to handle the B&Ws, the Mullards will add a bit of warmth and will deliver wonderful detail and a great listening experience.

The stock tubes stink and this amp will be too bright for your B&Ws with them.  These would work brilliantly:

The amp itself is either $1595 or $1695 depending on how nice of a remote you want.

For $2K or less, this is my favorite amp and think it will outperform most, particularly with the tube upgrade.  If you haven't messed with tubes previously, it is no big deal to swap them out.  Easier than changing a lightbulb.

I am not a Rogue dealer and have no affiliation with Rogue.  I think they make a great product.
