Hearing Aids Reduce Dementia Risk

Well this sure explains a lot. I’ll be sending out private messages with a link to this article to some of you I feel strongly are either deaf or unable to think clearly anymore or both. 🤣

You are welcome.

Interesting article!

Thanks ...

Hearing sense is so deep , i think as it to be the mother sense of all sense over even touch or visual...

We see, touch, something which appear "external" first in a way when we hear something as when we smell , it is our own biology for the smell and our own soul for the sound which we related too FIRST...

Mothers hear high sound better than male because they are related to their own flesh in a way a man is not : a baby crying...

We dont speak , we sing, language is music...But in the prosaic mode habit we forgot this...

Perhaps the last scientific news about the "big bang" will make it obsolete as a model of the universe...

I predict that the "bang" or the AUM (Om) or the "god says" in the genesis , the logos in St-John translated as the VERB , the sound origin of the universe will stay...

Sound is not physical waves, we must not confuse the medium with the informative content itself...

Sound disclose the soul of everything...

Number theory itself is music or orchestrated rythms on many levels...

Then it is not surprizing that it is deafness not blindness which can be associated with dementia...

If you want a deep mathematical insight about physics, music and time listen to this  but it is not vulgarisation beware...

Interesting study and results. If only people would be more willing to deal with their hearing loss.

I have two close friends that are in total denial that they are losing their hearing and just make excuses as to why they didn't hear something.

Maybe it's vanity and they don't want to appear "old", but the truth is that modern hearing aids are almost invisible.

I remember a french documentary about Ray Charles , a charismatic blind singer among all singers...

I listened the documentary because who could go out without listening Ray Charles?

In the mid of the docu. the french journalist who was filming Charles , 24 h on 24 , tracking him without asking question because it was the condition , go with him in an hospital ...

Suddenly a young girl waiting for him goes and throw himself in the arms of Ray Charles smiling...

After the scene , the journalist ask Ray Charles about all that love and what the fuss is about ?

The journalist is intrigued because the young girl suffered deafness...And the journalist ask Ray Charles why he help a deaf young girl and not a blind one ?

Ray Charles laughed out without end, "blindness! there is no problem there at all" ...

It was amazing to see the expression on his face...His laugh with no end as if the journalist question was a joke... For him it was a joke...Many of us we can miss the joke too...

I'm no more weird about wearing hearing aids than I am about wearing glasses; got a sense that needs some help? Help it! My sanity is still questionable...

I have had to wear them for the past 15 years. I am now 74. The wife demanded that I get tested....!

@o_holter - in my experience, the best hearing aids for music are also the best ones for everything else, which tend to be towards the top of the line of various hearing aid manufacturers. But it's wise to have a talk with your audiologist about it.

A friend made a rather in depth study of hearing aids for his personal use and used first the top end Siemens and then upgraded to Widex.  Perhaps that is helpful. These are very top end products, rather expensive.

It’s easy to believe, as the isolation induced by deafness reduces the feedback that stimulates our brains in normal interactions.  This isn’t the first study to suggest this.

The great thing is that there are so many over the counter hearing aids now, some very cheaply priced, that many people who could not afford the regular ones can now benefit
