Do you have a screw loose?

Just a friendly beginning of the year PSA saying to check the screws on your drivers to see if they are snug enough. Just checked mine (after I finally found my torx screw bits). Surprised how loose they'd become. Now to find a bit that fits the one in my head...

That is a pretty amazing coincidence! You're a respected member, so hopefully others will take this good (and simple) advice.

@ghdprentice ,

I tightened up a pair of my older Avance speakers. Only pair I use at the moment. Had a pair of Fritz Carrera's, but sold them due to the beryllium tweeter. Not for me.

Drop of locktite may stop the screws from coming loose…in your speakers depending on what holds them. Don’t take it internally though. Lol

 I always check them every fall around Thanksgiving. Years back had PSB Gold towers, always surprised at how loose the screws on the woofers got.

OP, Thanks.

I was wondering at what quality level the speakers were. I would think that probability of screws loosening themselves would partially be a function of the initial quality of construction.

Do you have a screw loose?

that’s very personal and violation of HIPAA rules devil

@ghdprentice ,

A good point. My Avance are pretty decent quality and sound pretty darn good.

3 ways, all ScanSpeak drivers, pushing 60lbs. each.

Changing entire system eventually. Only gear I’m keeping is my BAT phono pre, and Mytek dac. Going to be a while as other priorities take precedent. So for now, gotta be content with what I have.

Yes. lol smiley My JBL speaker drivers and crossover nuts and bolts use lock washers no loose screws.

It would be safe to assume that 99% of the forum membership have plenty of loose screws, can't be fixed (goes with the core definition of audiophile )..
