Changing Tweeter on Olympica 3
Would like to get some opinions and advice. I wont be changing it myself, but for a 7 year old pair of Sonus Faber Olympica III’s , I need to replace the tweeter on one of the speakers. Is it strongly recommended to do both speakers? Or will it be ok sound wise by changing one (since the costs involved to change both).
@knotscott that could be a good idea selling the older/working one. Not sure how much I could get for it and could take a while to sell. Fine Sounds insists that both dont need to be changed. As long as a 200 hour break in is done on the new / changed one, it should be fine. |
I’m with him on this. I am guessing the difference after breakin will be unnoticeably small. One of my jumpers came off my speakers so I only one woofer was working on one side and two on the other. It slowly dawned on me over a couple hours of listening that my system was bass shy, but not that there was a woofer problem. I decided to move them back to reinforce the bass and found the offending wire. Very different, but small channel differences are not really appearing. |
@tony1954 thanks, I may do that. Based on what they are telling me, I should not hear any difference. I will need to wait 3 months to get the part anyway. |
