OK, of course the name of the tune I meant by Herb Albert is "So What's new?", not "What's Going On".
Sorry Marvin Gaye! |
John Cage: 4'33"
Talk about a riveting tune that's impossible to get out of your head! -
|
If you listen to the top 40 hits enough, even some of the ones you don't like will stick in your head. I think they call this "brainwashing". On a side note, being a trumpet player and a long-time Herb Alpert and the Tiajuana Brass fan, I can relate with you, Mapman. |
John Cage is a minimalist, right?
Gotta check that out. |
I listen to top 40 radio in the car with my kids sometimes.
A lot of old am radio and 45 RPM vinyl stuff actually sounds pretty good these days remastered to CD and on a good system.
Many many catchy tunes over the years.
I'll listen to almost anything once. |
IIRC, you can talk all you want about a riveting tune that's impossible to get out of your head _while_ Cage's 4'33" is playing. It's four minutes 33 secs of silence--or rather, of ambient auditory information.
Now, 4 min 33 secs of silence in my head--there's a concept. |
"It's four minutes 33 secs of silence--or rather, of ambient auditory information"
So how does it sound on a good system? Should be really really......quiet? |
Im going to get some comments on this one, but Michael Jackson's Thriller album(and others) are timeless and extremely catchy. Not to mention the number one selling ablbum of all time. |
|
You'll look better In a sweater Washed in Woolite!
(I always found that one quite catchy. I think it sounded OK, too.) |
Oh boy, here come the old time jingles......
I would bet some of these actually sound very good remastered to CD!
How about:
Schaeffer. Is the. One beer to have when your....having more than 1! |
Another Michael Jackson, actually Jackson Five. "I Want You Back"
How about the Torero's song from Carmen--not the death theme though.
There are some pretty catchy passages in some of Beethoven's symphonies.
JPO |
Rel: 4:33 is playing no matter what! |
Everything from "Off the Wall" by Michael Jackson. Don't know a better album for musical production sheen. |
Man, I thought I was the only one listening to michael on here. He had some great tunes in the 80's |

Sound quality is mixed but I can't get the electronic dance tune "Tsunami" by DVBBS and Borgeous out of my head.
I first heard it in the latest Les Mills CXworx core/abs class. Had to download it. It's the second track ("plank" track). |
Help. I am obsessed with Tsunami. I've played it repeatedly over the last few days. Someone should score an orchestrated version. |
