Vandersteen Seven Review I doubt I'll ever have 7s due to the cost but I agree on the design principles creating a total package that's true to the input signal and doesn't exaggerate selected parts of it. I got interested in the 5As after reading the Audio Perfectionist'...
Yuour cartridge for Reed 3P "12 Cocobolo Just noticed this thread. I have a 12" 3P in cocobola and use it with the Benz LP-s to great effect. The Benz weighs in at 16.5 gm as I recall with a compliance of 15. Strange combo. The Reed handles it fine.
Holy Cow. My Vandersteen Treo's sound like new.. Agree with Mikirob, Vandersteen's prices are getting a little out of reach for real people. I bought my 5As back when they were around $18,000 and felt like that was plenty to spend on a speaker but a bargain for what was then the company flagship...
Audio Desk & it's service Well, I'll have to say I've been loving mine for a couple years now. I have wondered where to get service when it runs into problems. I bought mine from Steve Dobbins who I believe is no longer selling them. I guess one of the U.S. Distributors wo...
Has anybody tried the Reed 3P? I can only say I really enjoy my 3P (12 inch cocobola). I use it with the Benz LP-s. Not sure if feedback on that combination helps anyone but it's one of the best I have. I find the 3P to be a beautiful arm and a joy to use. It's actually the onl...
Listening to Kenny Burrell Midnight Blue There's a lot of pre echo on my Music Matters 331/3 copy. I agree, the sound quality is excellent. I wonder if the pre echo has always been there and this transfer just lays it bare. Whatever the case, it doesn't spoil the experience. Fantastic pa...
Grateful Dead MoFi 45RPM Vinyl Reissues Yes, I have them as well. Very nicely mastered. I did have to flatten a couple of the LPs with the Vinyl Flat and it took a couple plays to get them to quiet down a bit but they play very well now. I typically have these sorts of minor issues with...
Are there other Artisan Fidelity TT owners aorund? Chris would be happy to help you figure that out Downunder, I'm sure. Check out the AF site and send him an email inquiry.
Are there other Artisan Fidelity TT owners aorund? By and large, I agree that no weight or clamp is often my preference. Only when certain records seem like they may slip a bit do I use my weight. I don't know if certain discs are more prone to slipping because of texture/weight or maybe a looser ...
Next Wilco Album The Alpha Mike Foxtrot box is great and apparently supplies are running out. That may up this one on the priority list a bit. If you know you like Wilco it's a safe bet you'll like this box. Several suppliers are already out and it appears when th...
Warmish, good tracker & low noise for used vinyl? Clean your used vinyl well and be very picky when buying it in the first place. Look closely, under different lighting conditions. Then use whatever cartridge you chose. Still, always a bit of a crap shoot whether used or new. It ain't the cartrid...
New Springsteen Box: Opinions? I have the box as well. It's really well done IMO and probably the most fun way to play these albums I've found. The mastering is by Robert Ludwig, not Grundman. I think Grundman may have done the lacquers for the vinyl though.
Are there other Artisan Fidelity TT owners aorund? On the subject of mats, I'm sure Chris's copper mat is very well made and fits the platter perfectly. I'm also certain that it sounds better than the stock rubber mat. Just about anything does. I never use my stock mat. Also consider trying the Sa...
Are there other Artisan Fidelity TT owners aorund? I do finally have my MKlll NG in place and am in the process of setting up the tonearms and cartridges. So far I just have the mono set up but it sounds great. It's clear that the whole assembly was built meticulously to very tight tolerances. The...
Stillpoints LP Isolator Record Weight Try a Boston Audio mat 2 with no weight or clamp. So far that may be the best option I've tried. |
