Cable advice needed

Hi Audiogon Community:
I'm switching out my rca cables for xlr. Which IC's do you recommend going from CD Player to Preamp and Preamp to Amp.

The  IC's xlr I own are:
Purist Audio Design Venustas Praesto Rev &
Purist Audio Design Proteus Rev A

My system :
Ayre Acoustics CX-7eMP
Belles Aria preamp
Maker Audio G7 Amp
Tyler Dx2 speakers

Thanx so much for your advice

Try JPSLABS.COM

Also see the lending library at   THECABLECOMPANY.COM

Try several cables at a time to compare.

Also you might try a power cord designed for amplifiers on your preamp.
My experience different, source to pre amp which is in line with the philosophy of Dr.Ono.
The rationale would be that the more "delicate" signal is coming from the source, so use the better cable there, as others have already said.
addyson815,

That's what I got out his question also.
I agree with jl35, "most companies recommend the best cable from source to pre." I have two different XLR cables and use the "better" one between my source and pre.

most companies and listeners seem to recommend best cable from  source to pre
The OP isn’t asking for cable suggestions , he is asking with the cables he has, what cable should go from preamp to CD player and preamp to amp.
I purchased the Snake River Audio Signature Series Mamushi Interconnect XLR cables (purchased pre-owned) and like them very much.  Please see:

Please see their demo/used link for reduced pricing.
If you want a more organic sound without losing detail, the Teo Game Changer ICs are very good--should be very nice with the Tyler speakers.
Are you asking where should the better cable go? If so, Audioquest told me to put the better cable from my source to preamp.
I'll never understand Ayre's affinity for Cardas. I found the Ayre/Cardas cables to rob the life from the music, negating the strengths of Ayre equipment.

fdavis, I think you already have some very fine XLR cables in the Purist. Try them before going further. Bettering those is gonna cost a lot..

Ayre used to offer their own brand cables, made by Cardas....not sure if they still do
doesn't Ayre have any for sale?  I'd ask them - they do think wood blocks will help

otherwise, I'd use any high quality cables - you will usually find Neutrix connectors on the ends

some like the Canare star-quad (which, of course... has Neutrix connectors on the ends)
