Best wishes

To Keith Herron on his retirement. I remain grateful for your wonderful VSPH-2A phono preamp

Thank you to everyone for your kind wishes.
I have decided to discontinue making the VTPH-2As as it had been keeping me busy 7 days a week building them and we have run out of parts (chassis, circuit boards, hard to acquire special parts, and face plates) for the VTPH-2A. We sold 425 total. I am 71 (semiretired) and healthy and we will be around for service if ever needed for years to come. We will still be making the VTSP-360 ESP Reference which has been a long journey to perfect and I am most happy with the last iteration of it as of March of this year.
My best wishes to all of you. - Keith Herron
I don't know that Keith has truly retired, whatever that word even means. The way he builds, in order to keep costs down he has to order enough for a production run that will last a while, as otherwise things like faceplates and chassis are prohibitively expensive to produce one at a time. Same goes for a number of parts, prices are lower in quantity. When he looked at what it would take to do that for another run of VTPH2A the prices were so high he said the retail price would be "astronomical" enough so he decided to call it quits. On that one model.

Even if he does officially retire he won't really, as he will still be around to provide support. Which if his other stuff is as professionally designed and solidly built and reliable as the VTPH2A they won't need much in the way of support.

Whatever is really going on I just think this is a great opportunity to acknowledge and congratulate one of the great high end designers who has made a real contribution to high end audio.
Never listened to a Herron product but i can understand from all the above comments that he made some great gear and he holds a high esteem amongst designers.
Happy retirement.

He will continue to support his products, but no longer make the phono unit, as he has no more supply of key parts
i missed the announcement (if there was an official one)...

i trust the company will live on and continue to support products in owner's hands?

much respect industry wide for herron...
The VTPH2A has got to be one of the all time great phono stages. I am so happy to have got one before Keith retired. What great timing too, as to continue in the present environment would mean drastically increasing prices with supply problems. So congratulations Keith, you are going out on top! Enjoy it. You earned it.
I got to meet Keith in 2015 at the Newport Show and can still hear Christian McBride playing in that system...

Congrats Keith and may you enjoy a long and healthy retirement!
Definitely best wishes to Keith.  I'm glad I was able to get one of his last phono stages, and I enjoy it every day.

Enjoy your retirement!
