Already have one of those around here....it's the rest attached to the cheeks that drives to distract in ways you'd preferred not to indulge in or with.....
Yes l love it, it’s the way it is….. and is true. The moderators have the last word in what is right or wrong. Get it? Get back on the “Wild Bunch” wagon
“You know not the way of this nation…… such things do not happen here!”
Anyone know that scripted line? Maybe never said, but such great cinema spectacle. Much like what’s on here….LOL
Anyway getting back to the Alamo, and The Wild Bunch. Anyone like the music from those two films?
l think the Alamo LP was typical “Americana” written by a Russian (how good is that?) but those dialogue lines inserted by John Wayne… Republic and his love of said country l just can’t listen to, and uttered by a hypocritical draft dodger.
edit… if this thread gets taken down so be it…. It’s been a hell of a ride and entertaining (documented) for all the “neutrals” out there.
I am still trying to get to the bottom of it being implied that the post I made about getting an a'gon email informing me of a deleted post was "hot air"
and then you reading the email I pasted and referring to the "moderators" (the quotation marks were yours),
and then you basically saying that you were "calling [me] out."
That's all.
And by the way, in the past, I have self-deleted threads because after 30 minutes one cannot perform an edit, so in lieu of an edit I sometimes self-delete and retype the way I intended to, but in case you are not aware of this fact, the "moderators" do not send out emails for self deletes.
Don’t get paranoid…. It’s quite hot in England lately…Global warming and all that
That’s just more crap. I type a post about getting an email from a’gon admin and you reply
I just opened a window, and just “hot air” blew in…. no snowflakes
Sorry, l just don’t buy it
and you put "hot air" in quotation marks and now you say that you were referring to global warming? That’s crap. So if you are going to "call me out"--then call me out and don’t default to crap posts.
He will probably now be thinking that you…. ARE ME
Oh, there is more than one sock account here at any given time, @mylogic, but I wasn’t thinking of you as such, but if I was, I’d spell it out for you. As in the texas-jerry exchanges.
Yes Matt you take down that email that you “pasted”
I will be happy to paste a bunch more, including the one I just took down, mylogic, if that’s what you want. But it seems to offend "somebody" when I do that, as they usually get deleted in relatively short order. I started keeping them versus deleting them a while back ago, and I guess I must be telling you something that you don’t already know when I explain that a’gon doesn’t send emails out for self deletes.
You have been well and truly pasted. I think Mr. Snowflake gave you a good frosting to take away the hot air
Your cute metaphors are so witty, mylogic; I assume this is you "calling me out"?
Look at the order of posts. It was meant for the @unclewilbur paste you inserted. You posted your copy of the email AFTER my reply. (Now deleted) So that “hot air” was not in reply to your copy post of the Audiogon email. The said “hot air” was for old Wilber’s claim made without any sound foundation.
The next “hot air” blamed on global warming and was me just being ironic, and in no way linked to what you thought.
Yes it is like that. I’m going to let this one go before the monkey dies on me. First and last discussion.
The monkey of this thread….. l don’t want any further future misunderstandings or malarkey. You can spend so much time on here. Another day with nothing done… Ha Ha…. But it is rather hot today to cut the grass. I will watch it grow instead.
With the exception of Autumn!, Black Kray, and a few Lil Yachty tunes, I can't stand most trap or drill music. Not because the vocals which can be quite good, but because of that incessant over the top annoying hi-hat, the Hallmark of the genre I realize. There is something about that dit-dit-dit-dit that drives the drummer in me absolutely batshit. At least those artists I mentioned earlier have a lot of Melody and musicality in their tunes that softens that hi hat effect. And yes, I know where the drill hi hat effect originated in why but that doesn't swing my opinion at all.
l notice you collected Jean-Luc Ponty albums from an old post l stumbled across.
l wonder if you are aware of what could be a rare Ponty performance?
l was a projectionist in my student years which was a hobby job. The free tickets alone l would have been quite happy with. Sometimes squeezing in 6 free films a week between the cinemas. I have a bit of a photographic memory for obscure info and showed the film “Sitting Target” when first released.
When the film “hit the screen” projectionists always “focused up” on the “main titles” So l remember a lot of the credits while focusing, checking the framing and light. Technically there were differences in film stock so focus could not be preset.
The music was by Stanley Myers and the next credit from memory was “violin solo by Jean-Luc Ponty”. I was not aware of this musician so l researched him as in 1972 he was not well known.
The prominent electric violin was played with a tortured, strident quality. The counter pointing orchestral strings/electronic pulsating arrangement perfectly matched the onscreen visuals. Oliver Reed alone in a prison cell exercising using the available fixtures and furnishings. Think of iron bars, bedsteads with bench pressings/pushups and sweat.
There was never an LP soundtrack to my knowledge. There was a CD release 30+ years later l bought because l always recalled the well crafted opening scene. Strangely JLP is not even mentioned at all on the CD as a contributor.
l was wondering if you are a completist with your JLP collection and know of this music? The opening scene for me is the films stand out moment because of the visual and music integration.
l hope this is useful info for you and for any other collectors out there that may not even be aware of this piece of music. Without that “on screen” credit it may have never been known it was JLP
@mylogicFittingly for this thread, my wife cannot stand Jean Luc Pointy. However he and some of his musicians like Rayford Griffin and Casey Schuerell have really influenced my own musicianship. No, I have not heard of that film and his contribution to it, but thank you for bringing it to my attention.
The opening main title is on YouTube, plus a longer (with some film soundtrack effects) expanded sections taken from DVD. Search “Youtube Stanley Myers Sitting Target”
Stanley Myers mentored a young Hans Zimmer into film music composing.
