Antipodes Audio - K22 G4

I’m interested in consolidating my 2 box Innuos PhoenixUSB/ ZENith mk3 into one unit. That and an upgrade in sound quality will be a welcome bonus.

I am after a good synergy with my Chord DAVE/ NAIM NAC332 / NPX 300 PSU and active ATC 100’s.

I cannot demo the K22, so any advice on this possible upgrade will be welcome. I’d like a fast, dynamic, detailed but also balanced sound.

I don’t like to recommend any component without listening to it in your system...there are just too many variables. I use a Chord Dave with the Antipodes Oladra Music server. I used a K41/K21 combination prior to Oladra. In my system, I prefer Antipodes to Aurender, Zenith, and several other music servers. Your preferences may be different.

Thank you for that. Listening in my own system is impossible. However I like a fast, dynamic sound that’s also even and not harsh in anyway. Sounds like you have / had a similar source with Antipodes and DAVE. That’s where the flavour comes from anyway, you can’t really change that, only season it a bit from there on in the chain.

To my ears, in my system, the Antipodes is fast, dynamic, and musical. It's detailed without a hint of harshness.

I have purchased an Antipodes K22 G4.

Should have it by mid next week. The clincher was I can upgrade to the Antipodes K41 G4 Server (an additional box, but I don’t mind that) later on and that will bring it up to K50 G4 level performance by all accounts.

By selling my 3x Innuos set up and 1x Wireworld Platinum USB cable,  the change  over cost was minimal as I got the K22 from the Antipodes Dealer who is also the importer in my Country.

That isn’t the case with Innuos, dealer margin and Innuos popularity in my country made the upgrade - to say a ZEN NG with 2TB SSD - a massive difference price wise.

While not exactly what you’re looking for, I upgraded from a Zenith Mk 3/Phoenix USB  to an Antipodes K50 G4. In my system, with my ears, the K50 was a significant upgrade (clarity, realism, separation.) over the Innuos gear.

I also like that the Antipodes offers digital outputs other than USB, I prefer AES/EBU. The user upgradeable storage is another big plus.

I do prefer the Innuos Sense app, however, over Roon.

When I was planning my upgrade, I considered the new NG Innuos products but found their product naming to be confusing and their trade up program wasn’t very attractive.

I have been looking at the K22 as an upgrade for my Zenith MkIII. Please follow up with your thoughts once you have had some time with the new unit.

Hello, I just received my K22 last week. I was using a LUMIN T2 reclocked via a Mutec MC3+USB and into my DAC. Plus I was using an external Roon core (SGC i5 sonic transporter). All three boxes were replaced by the K22.

The K22 had been run in continuously for 2 weeks by the dealer and, as soon as I listened to the first track, I knew I had made the right decision.

Chief listening notes: more quiet than you can even imagine. Just dead quiet. The bass is more audible but in no way overpowering. It is fast! There is absolutely no stray treble that hurts your ears. That is gone. My partner says that the lyrics are clearer. Overall, there is more depth, quiet and presence, very balanced across the spectrum.

And plenty of streamer power.

I was not able to audition either because I live in a rural town with no audio stores and did not want to spend thousands of dollars flying into a larger centre.

The K22 is a slam dunk. I am very happy.
