Antipodes Audio - K22 G4

I’m interested in consolidating my 2 box Innuos PhoenixUSB/ ZENith mk3 into one unit. That and an upgrade in sound quality will be a welcome bonus.

I am after a good synergy with my Chord DAVE/ NAIM NAC332 / NPX 300 PSU and active ATC 100’s.

I cannot demo the K22, so any advice on this possible upgrade will be welcome. I’d like a fast, dynamic, detailed but also balanced sound.

Thank you for that. Listening in my own system is impossible. However I like a fast, dynamic sound that’s also even and not harsh in anyway. Sounds like you have / had a similar source with Antipodes and DAVE. That’s where the flavour comes from anyway, you can’t really change that, only season it a bit from there on in the chain.

I have purchased an Antipodes K22 G4.

Should have it by mid next week. The clincher was I can upgrade to the Antipodes K41 G4 Server (an additional box, but I don’t mind that) later on and that will bring it up to K50 G4 level performance by all accounts.

By selling my 3x Innuos set up and 1x Wireworld Platinum USB cable,  the change  over cost was minimal as I got the K22 from the Antipodes Dealer who is also the importer in my Country.

That isn’t the case with Innuos, dealer margin and Innuos popularity in my country made the upgrade - to say a ZEN NG with 2TB SSD - a massive difference price wise.

Sorry, late reply and update.

I did get the K22 G4 and I was so happy, I purchased a K41 G4 a few weeks ago.

And………

The K41 addition has been without doubt, the single biggest upgrade I have EVER done in my system - bar none !

I usually don’t wax lyrically about this upgrade or that upgrade. But I needed to add my comments on the K41 to this forum.

Sure the K41 is an expansive piece of kit, but I can say I’ve paid more for much less than the upgrade the K41 gives.

I’m not kidding when I say it’s like I have upgraded my speakers, DAC and preamp all at once - the change is THAT massive.

I’m shocked as to what it has brought to my music that have been so familiar and all now seem like a remastered version of the same tracks.

Technical performance of deeper/ better bass, more resolution, bigger & better soundstage, PR&T improvement, dynamic range have gotten massively better.

With the K22/K41 combo, I can now finally see and get what the founder of Linn Audio said all those years ago.

“Get your source sorted with the best that you can afford and the rest of your system will all fall into place and finally make sense”

Subtle musical cues and small detail shifts are all still there, but when big dynamic swings are required, it delivers that in spades as well.

The biggest change is this - pure and complete emotional musical enjoyment and engagement.

And that is what it is all about at the end of the day in our hifi hobby isn’t it?
