Thank You for the follow up. A very nice system.
Happy Listening!
Accuphase DP570 vs. Luxman D10X
@stereo5: Not really relevant for comparison today. It's been almost a decade and has gone through several major revisions. It works well now. Much better than managing my own servers/software.

Thanks @tank_pd. Sounds like a good addition to your system! |
@rockrider : I have the 100SC, but thought about getting one of the larger models with a screen such as the N20. I went with a more entry level model largely due to price point and I was not confident that the streamer would be good long-term. Nearly every streamer I had bought prior ended up being dead in terms of software updates in 1-2 yrs. Not the case with Aurender. I already had a nice dac at the time and wanted at least coax output and a removable storage. Many of the modle updates are now coming with user upgraded storage. The A20 wasn't out when I made my choice. Now that I've seen the quality of the software, support and integrations I could see myself upgrading. I might still go with the N20 as my Classe Delta Pre has similar AKM dacs built in and I will likely make use of the bass management. Hope this helps, even though it's like 1 month later. |
@denon1 : I see you are not excited by the DP 560 / 570. The 560 is "nothing special" compared to what? What is it more exactly that you didn't like about these models (maybe also what you liked, if anything)? I'm asking because I have a DP 550 that I'm quite content with and yet I'm considering a small upgrade to a used DP 560 (even the DP 570 would be too expensive for me, not to mention the higher priced models). The main reason for this move is that I'd like to benefit from the superior input capabilities of the 560 (DSD via USB, reads data DVDs with .wav and .flac files...), but a small sound improvement would be welcome as well. And I'm not sure I'll be able to audition it first. Thanks! |
I had accuphase 560, nothing special. Currently have accuphase dp-750 and luxman d-10x. Both are great. But accuphase here in US way overpriced even if you find a dealer with a good discount it’s still will cost more than luxman. To my ears and in my system, the luxman d-10x sounds better - more open and dynamic. Both players extract great amount of details and both when burned in for at least 200 hours are very musical. I will keep luxman since I like it’s sound more. Accuphase dp-750 retails around $32k in US and Luxman d-10x is $16.5k. The dp-570 is not in the same league. |
Thank you for the suggestion. Accuphase doesn't really reply and reaching out to the distributor took multiple tires just to get refereed to a dealer. They don't really have a ton of options. ~18K, then right to the moon with 32K price point for DP-750 in the US. Yes, I have looked into Esoteric, but haven't seriously considered them. There are many mentions here that they might be hard to service, though that may apply to all 3 of the Japanese brands I am considering. I also have a quite a few choices I am still trying to eliminate. |
Reaching out to the manufacturers directly can be eye-opening. Tell them your situation in detail and they will prescribe the best product for the job. While I have heard gear from both brands, I am not familiar with these units. Overall emphasis is on neutrality without colourations in the sound. Accuphase tends to be "in your face" while Luxman is a bit more laid back in presentation. |
