Accuphase DP570 vs. Luxman D10X

Anyone have thoughts on these two players? Accuphase DP570 vs. Luxman D10X. Accuphase has a ES9028PRO chip. The Luxman has new DAC chips from ROHM MUS-IC BD34301EKV. Anyone have any idea how these players should compare? One is the entry level from Accuphase and the flagship from Luxman. I am a bit worried the Accuphase is overpriced for what it is as the McIntosh MCD 600 is built around the same chip in quad balanced mode from what I can find.

I have found dealers where I can listen to both. Accuphase is special order though, but dealer is willing to bring it in with no commitment if my interest is high. I realize I may be at a big disadvantage in trying to decide around these as it will not be my speakers or room, if I can even tell any difference. I am thinking of taking my bookshelf speakers in that I am familiar with, but it will be a new room and two different ones at that. The price for either is similar.

I am not sure I would built the rest of the system around either of these two brands and have been instead leaning towards Classe separates. The costs of separates from Accuphase or Luxman seems incredibly high. Neither of these make streamers, so I would eventually need something like an small Aurender or streamer to use with the players as a DAC. The other option I am thinking of is to go with a Simaudio or Auralic streamer.

Reaching out to the manufacturers directly can be eye-opening.

Tell them your situation in detail and they will prescribe the best product for the job. While I have heard gear from both brands, I am not familiar with these units.

Overall emphasis is  on neutrality without colourations in the sound. Accuphase tends to be "in your face" while Luxman is a bit more laid back in presentation.

Thank you for the suggestion. Accuphase doesn't really reply and reaching out to the distributor took multiple tires just to get refereed to a dealer. They don't really have a ton of options. ~18K, then right to the moon with 32K price point for DP-750 in the US.

Yes, I have looked into Esoteric, but haven't seriously considered them. There are many mentions here that they might be hard to service, though that may apply to all 3 of the Japanese brands I am considering. I also have a quite a few choices I am still trying to eliminate.
Look in the Audioshark web site on the Luxman D10x thread. I believe they discussed these 2 players.

I strongly considered it, found a good dealer and price, but in the end I did not. I ended up with an Aurender.

I had accuphase 560, nothing special. Currently have accuphase dp-750 and luxman d-10x.  Both are great. But accuphase here in US way overpriced even if you find a dealer with a good discount it’s still will cost more than luxman.

To my ears and in my system, the luxman d-10x sounds better - more open and dynamic. Both players extract great amount of details and both when burned in for at least 200 hours are very musical. I will keep luxman since I like it’s sound more.

Accuphase dp-750 retails around  $32k in US and Luxman d-10x is $16.5k.

The dp-570 is not in the same league.

@tank_pd Which Aurender did you choose, and could you provide some of your thoughts on how you chose? I’m considering the A20. Thanks!

Thank You for the DP-570 vs. D-10x comparison. What other gear, including cabling, rounds out your system?

These are 2 Premiere players.

Happy Listening!

Hi Jayant,

my system

cables  - all audience from row

integrated - luxman 590axii

speakers - Sonus Faber Amati tradition.

latest and the best tweak  that made a big difference in the sound of my system is addition of townshend podiums under the speakers - real audible improvement.

@denon1 : I see you are not excited by the DP 560 / 570. The 560 is "nothing special" compared to what? What is it more exactly that you didn't like about these models (maybe also what you liked, if anything)? I'm asking because I have a DP 550 that I'm quite content with and yet I'm considering a small upgrade to a used DP 560 (even the DP 570 would be too expensive for me, not to mention the higher priced models). The main reason for this move is that I'd like to benefit from the superior input capabilities of the 560 (DSD via USB, reads data DVDs with .wav and .flac files...), but a small sound improvement would be welcome as well. And I'm not sure I'll be able to audition it first. Thanks!

@rockrider : I have the 100SC, but thought about getting one of the larger models with a screen such as the N20. I went with a more entry level model largely due to price point and I was not confident that the streamer would be good long-term. Nearly every streamer I had bought prior ended up being dead in terms of software updates in 1-2 yrs. Not the case with Aurender. I already had a nice dac at the time and wanted at least coax output and a removable storage. Many of the modle updates are now coming with user upgraded storage.

The A20 wasn't out when I made my choice. Now that I've seen the quality of the software, support and integrations I could see myself upgrading. I might still go with the N20 as my Classe Delta Pre has similar AKM dacs built in and I will likely make use of the bass management. Hope this helps, even though it's like 1 month later.

If you aren't dead set on theses two brands, take a look at playback designs.

I had very bad luck with the N100H and the conductor software at the time was horrid.  It kept trying to update my files when there were none to update.  Sold the unit for a loss in 2016.

@stereo5: Not really relevant for comparison today. It's been almost a decade and has gone through several major revisions. It works well now. Much better than managing my own servers/software.
