I've been using tubes for many years. I used to use rubber tube rings on small tubes and metal fins on power tubes (which looked cool) but in the long run I found that the tubes I used did not really benefit the sound because they didn't need the damping (or cooling) effect afforded. i.e. I couldn't hear anything.
A simple tube hack
Tube dampers are a pain: on the one hand they tighten up the sound, on the other they take the life out of the music. By experimenting I found an interesting alternative for signal and rectifier tubes: Form a 1/2‘‘ ball of blue tack and place it on top of the tubes by gently pressing it down. I think you will be pleased with the result: gone are the false reverb sounds and clarity reigns supreme
