First impressions of new MH-DA006, Musetec flagship I do not think ASR is measuring everything needed to determine if something is going to sound good or not. Based on my experience of buying and comparing highly rated ASR gear with badly rated ASR gear (such as the 005), the testing parameters the...
High end bookshelf speakers for Small room @saurabhgarg I have heard the TAD ME-1 and it is an excellent speaker. Use some warm gear with it for that Beryllium driver. However, I thought it would be too much for my small office, unless I used DSP or more treatments. My dealer for this spea...
Upgrade from Revel 228be? Yamaha NS-5000 would be my vote. $15K new. Their driver technology is ahead of everybody else. Only problem is they need at least 200 watts for their 3.5 pound woofer coils. 500 watts are better. The coherence from the 3 drivers made of the sa...
Speakers that disappear My Magnepan LRS+ does a pretty good job disappearing even though I sit close to the LEFT speaker in my small office. However, I cheat by using ROON's digital speaker placement option. That thing is like an analog balance control in a preamp, but o...
Six DAC Comparison @kijanki I totally agree with your comment. BTW - you should have a listen to the new SimAudio 761 amp. I love the AHB2, and I think the 761 is what the hypothetical next version of the AHB2 should sound like. @helomech I did not find the top e...
SimAudio Moon North Collection @hoodust I heard the 761 | 791 | Paradigm Persona 9H. It was very good, especially in the bottom end where the 761 was not really involved in. I had some issues with the top end (a bit of fatigue), and I also thought the 791 may not be as good as ...
Six DAC Comparison I have 3 DACs including the Benchmark DAC3B. The DAC3B is used with warm my gear. Too much warmth for me is a no go.
Help - is Krell dead? @rubix George Meyer AV | Unparalleled Audio & Video Repair (georgemeyer-av.com) These guys repair a lot of KRELL gear and local to me. I would rather send it to them before shipping across the country to KRELL in CT.
$8k for speakers - new or used Yamaha NS-5000PNST 3-Way Bookshelf Speakers with Stands | Hi-Fi Heaven (hifiheaven.net) $9,599.00 Need room for the "bookshelf" speakers to breath. They are big.
Power Amplifier - Maximum Resolution & Detail! @deep_333 My #16 is likely a little less detailed than the 150 and 250. Doug said the 150 has some newer electronics that affect the top end. I think similar to the CODA S5.5 amp (mentioned above) in that aspect. My #16 works great with the NS500...
Is "detailed" audiophile code for too much treble? Bright gives me a headache or fatigue. Detailed does not necessarily have that same physical effect. A lot of times it does but when it does not, I keep that gear.
Power Amplifier - Maximum Resolution & Detail! I heard the Simaudio 860 V2 and 761 on the Paradigm Persona 5F and 9H and thought the 761 was easily better. The 761 is also cheaper.
Power Amplifier - Maximum Resolution & Detail! The S5.5 won't work well for the NS5000. I spoke with Doug Dale @ CODA about this amp and the NS5000. In fact, I use a CODA #16 on the NS5000 right now. It is a terrific pairing. The S5.5 will work on the NS5000, just like a stereo AHB2 would work...
Power Amplifier - Maximum Resolution & Detail! Mola Mola’s original engineer was Bruno P. Who is no longer with Mola Mola. He started Purifi a few years ago and they make the amp and speaker parts for others. Not sure about the new guys designing at Mola Mola. @deep_333 You should have a lis...
What front end piece should I upgrade? Get the Sonore OpticalRendu to replace the ultrRendu. Fibre Optic cable is something I can easily hear the benefits. Fibre is made of glass and glass cannot carry analog noise from your network into the DAC. Your ultraRendu likely does a good job,... |
