An Amp Nobody Talks About, Bricasti Design
@OP, I'll be recording with it soon!
Recommendations for really well-recorded music for high-end audio system demo
Anything by Chantal Chamberland, preferably heard on SACD. I'm a bit surprised at the number of early digital recordings that have featured in the posts so far - Brothers in Arms, Body and Soul, and the Nightfly, all of which IMHO, show up the fa...
An Amp Nobody Talks About, Bricasti Design
Bricasti's M7 reverb has become one of the standard go to studio hardware reverbs - for lots of people have heard Bricasti even if they don't know it!
Non-fatiguing speakers in $10K range?
@OP. Wilson Maxx IIs are now down around €10K. Unlike many older Wilson speakers, they are not forward sounding and will give you the scale that you need for rock music - but sound good on everything when properly set up. ProAc are also a good ch...
Would you move to a bigger house if you could just to have a better listening room ?
@roxy54 - thanks. As it happens, my rooms is pretty much the same size as yours - 14 x 12 x 9.5. I would love if it were two feet bigger all round, but I'm not moving house for it and, with appropriate treatment, it sounds pretty good.
Would you move to a bigger house if you could just to have a better listening room ?
The size/price ratio in Europe is different to the US so moving to a bigger house (in a suburban location) is not a realistic option. When I bought my current house, the overarching criterion was that it be detached - an awful lot of suburban hous...
Need recommendations on 15ft speaker cables
@OP Audioquest make their cables in pretty much any length you want.
Dirty little secret of Pedigreed, decades old Speaker line - no one will address
What a bizarre post. YGs billet core process has a lot going for it from a structural and materials perspective if the intention is to make a metal coned driver. It's biggest drawback is that it's expensive and relativel time consuming - even on a...
Not sure what to think
@OP, if you could not hear a difference then there are other factors at work - system/room/you own auditory discrimination faculties. That's premised on what your post says i.e. that the two were indistinguishable from each other. As other posts...
Quandary
@OP -  you should find a dealer who will allow you a home audition of the amp for free. Offering to waive the $300 cost if you purchase is a clever sales tactic to subtly pressure you into buying in order to recoup your $300 outlay. In addition, i...
Changing from European to American power supply on clearaudio emotion TT
@OP The pulleys on that generation of Clearaudios were either an interference fit or else secured with a small delrin grubscrew - so at least they are easy to get off. You'll need someone good at maths to calculate the new size to account for the ...
Great song by the Clash
The Clash's cover of I Fought the Law first appeared on The High Cost of Living EP which also included outstanding songs like Groovy Times and Gates of the West. It was never off my turntable after it was released in 1979 - before London Calling. ...
How much should I expect with a warranty issue from a large retailer/distributor?
In the European Union, the contract is between the endpoint seller and purchaser of the goods so the retailer is legally obliged to handle warranty issues. A much better system IMHO. Given the situation in the US, it appears there's no alternativ...
For city apartment dweller audiophiles. Have you ever had neighbors banging on your walls?
Yes - so I moved to a detached house. To be fair, it was mostly when I was jamming to Rory Gallagher :))
Unplugging power cords from amps/ pre amps
@OP There is no problem unplugging your equipment at the component end. Just  be absolutely sure to do it after turning off the relevant components. The biggest risk in thunderstorms is to anything that's connected to an antenna like a radio aeri...
