New Falcon ls3/5a Silvers in the house
A medium powered tube integrated (25-50 watts) is a good pairing with LS3/5a's. There is almost infinite choice but Prima Luna, Jadis and Copland are some decent names that come to mind.

Clock vs Streamer advice
@OP. Melco's app is not great either. As you have a quality DAC, and I'm working on the premise that it is USB equipped, you do have the potential to run Roon straight into that DAC. However, you need a purpose built computer to get the best resul...
Where to go next with the turntable
@OP, the Linn LP12 epitomises bass warmth - but you've had a couple of those. Given that and the fact that you've had VPIs, take a listen to a Technics SL1200G and the latest Regas to see if either floats your boat. The Technics has really excelle...
3-4 dB dip at crossover region: what should I listen for to hear it?
The ASR measurements suggest that the midrange dip is less pronounced in-room. Using a 12in driver in a two way design is always going to be compromised. Dips in frequency response are not always interpreted by the brain as dullness - a drop in th...
What happens when the stylus tip wears out on a $12,000 cartridge?
Van den Hul retip/rebuild all their cartridges for very reasonable prices. The $12,000 cartridge hypothesis distorts the picture because $4-6K is a more representative price range for high end cartridges.

Time, Wear, and Technological Evolution
@OP  Ed - very glad the speakers LS 50s worked out well. The manual is correct in that theoretically you shouldn't need the port plugs if the speakers are well away from the walls. However every room is different so if your ears tell you you need ...
Are there any issues with connecting speaker wire in this manner?
@OP. Regular solid copper wire sounds better than cheap stranded cables but in the overall scheme of things, it doesn't sound very good.
Integrated for Devore O/93
The Western Electric 91E sounds very nice with the O/93 and 96s. The Passlabs INT 25 is also a good match - I know it's not tube but nonetheless...
Cartridge wear with clicks and pops…?
@OP. I've never heard of a stylus becoming detached from a cantilever due to groove contamination. Regarding buying a second TT/Cartridge, if you don't have one, an utrasonic record cleaning machine would be a better investment. You'll get less cl...
Time, Wear, and Technological Evolution
@OP Ed. Excellent. I would start with them 2ft from the wall and gradually move them out until you find the best balance of soundstaging and bass response. Let us know how it goes. And happy birthday!
Any issues with bundling power cables together?
There will be increased inductance if the power cables are bundled together. That's generally not a good thing.
Is more amp power always better...?
@OP A power amplifier is basically a modulated power supply, so the quality the amp's power supply is more important than its power output. Quality watts don't come cheap so you should not buy a bigger amplifier than you need. 60-100 high quality ...
Time, Wear, and Technological Evolution
@OP - good experiment but the results are what you would expect. Do try blocking the ports and moving the speakers closer to the wall and let us know how you get on with that.
