Starting my showroom again
@OP. Have you got the cash to handle the first six months to a year of business when you will have little income and many outgoings? I don't know what the US market is like, but in Europe, the low end market is dire due to a combination of demogr...
Room is way too bright.
@OP - curtains on your windows and acoustic treatment correctly applied to the available surfaces. The point of first reflection is where the off axis sound from the loudspeaker meets the wall and reflects off it. That is where you apply treatmen...
2-way design vs. 3-way design means ?
@OP the term 'way' refers to how the frequency range is split. For the most part this will equate to the number of drivers used in the design. In a classic three way speaker, the drivers will cover the bass, midrange and treble. In a two way, the ...
Is all the hype warranted
@ghasley - my comment related to the OP's specific situation re the possibility of using an SET in a room that's over 400 ft sq. However, SET amplifiers in general exhibit relatively high levels of harmonic distortion once output rises above a han...
Is all the hype warranted
@OP. There are other USA made affordable tube amps to consider such as Rogue audio. Despite your loudspeakers' relative efficiency, you might want more than forty watts per channel in your quite large room. SETs definitely need not apply unless al...
Japanese Voltage.
Transformers aren't just generic black boxes so there are potential downsides to using them as voltage changers. And it's not just a question of the VA rating.
I need a little help from a UK, German, Greek or Israel member.
I've had a look at that site. The site itself looks legitimate but it is essentially a private adverts site, so any individual transaction is down to the trustworthiness of the specific seller.
Need help: Tannoy or B&W?
Neither - without knowing the rest of the system.
Enough is Enough
@OP Any sensible dealer will never dis a customer's system, so I would just go somewhere else. Nice system BTW.
Audio Desk cleaner.....still available?
The Degritter is a much better machine than the Audiodesk - much better design and operating system and its cleaning performance is excellent.
Bose buys McIntosh
It's funny that car manufacturers are all over high end companies to secure audio system marketing kudos, but the presence of those brands in the auto sector doesn't seem to be having the effect of enticing the owners of those cars to buy high end...
Tonearm paralysis by analysis
The Phantom is a unipivot.
300B Tube Amps with 15/16 Watts Per Channel?
Ref atmasphere's post. It depends on how much distortion one is willing to tolerate. An SE amp with a pair of 300Bs will not put out 15 watts @1%thd.
More potential bad news for some big names...
The Masimo brands will be on the block in the next few months if not sooner now that Masimo is controlled by Politan. As with McIntosh and SF, any company that is controlled by private equity. It's a question of when rather than if. There is a f...
Speaker cables with good timbre
@OP The Van den Hul 3T cables do what you want.
