Aluminum Foil test for Audio Desk Vinyl Cleaner
You can check whether your cleaner is working by listening. To the records! Do they sound like they are clean? If so, then they are.
New cart for under 1K
One thing I have begun to notice in myself, is that metal dome tweeters are just too harsh for me. Soft dome or ribbon are more to my liking. I've not hear enough of the air motion types to form an opinion yet.
VPI TNT MkIII - pluses and minuses?
The other thing I like is that often discarded tri-pulley set up. I like the idea of keeping the main bearing evenly loaded. Less wear and things should stay centered.
VPI TNT MkIII - pluses and minuses?
I paid around $4,000 for my TNT 3.5 (according to Mike at VPI) with SME-5, tri-pulley, SDS a handful of years ago here on audiogon. It had the spring suspension which at some point I converted to the squash ball type. No regrets and no upgradeitis.
New cart for under 1K
I like my Sumiko Blackbird. No upper end harshness but good detail across the range. Probably not the last word in carts but an all a rounder that is not fussy about VTA. I have an easily adjustable and repeatable VTA adjustable tonearm and the ch...
VPI TNT MkIII - pluses and minuses?
This is one of those things that sounds like it looks. I always chuckle to myself when someone places a piece of equipment on a darker looking slab of something and sure enough, the sounds seems deeper and fuller. But in this case I believe it is ...
My Dynavector DV Karet/Ruby stylus is sideways
Thirty three years old. Of course it is worn out. I was worn out at 33.
Phono interconnect under $500 used
Just curious why you think the lack of resolution is related to the phono cable? Not to be antagonistic, but couldn't your cartridge, tone arm , TT or phono stage be the problem?
Sumiko Blackbird MC vs. Clearaudio Maestro Wood MM
Never heard the Maestro but you won't go wrong with the BB. I really like mine. Doesn't set a foot down wrong . Excellent value even as the price has risen.
Rebuilt Ortofon A90?
I am a big supporter of all things SoundSmith especially after he repaired my Blackbird for free and after hearing his system at AXPONA! That said, I believe one might be better off offing the Ortofon option until that avenue runs out. With a cart...
Rebuilt Ortofon A90?
But this is a repair of a cartridge one already purchased I believe. This is not an offer for a rebuilt A90 for $2000.00 euros.
Phono cables with angled DIN for SME IV and V arms
With my SME-V a straight DIN connector worked best. You can swivel the base to point in most directions and with a little fiddling the connector slid right in.
Audio Desk Record Cleaner
As I mentioned in another thread, you could build one fo about 1/10th cost of the AD system. http://www.diyaudio.com/forums/analogue-source/218276-my-version-ultrasonic-record-cleaner.html
Linear tracking arms
Another vote here for the Terminator T3. Consistently runs rings rings around tonearms costing much, much more! I keep thinking I'll by another one for my big rig. No issues once set up. Adjustable for all the necessary parameters as well as VTA o...
Audio Desk Systeme Vinyl Cleaner Share
know you asked about sharing a multi thousand dollar RCM but I wanted to make you aware of a DIY thread that is not too complicated IMHO. You could try and build your own for a couple of hundred dollars. The last few posts are some of the most pro...
