Ortofon bronze PNP ALERT!!!!!
We need cartridge makers offering a transferrable warranty on grey market goods.  Sign me up.  Goodbye Ortofon!  ; )     Doesn't everyone assume, when they purchase grey market or used, that the manufacturers warranty is void?  Yes.  You go in wit...
Audio Research soft touch switches, how do you clean them
I use a pencil eraser (lightly) on both the metal and the rubber pad.  I treat the metal contact with Caig ProGold on a Q-tip.  works for me.
Cartridge Question
According to the PDF manual you need to (carefully) loosen a 2mm set screw in the front of the tonearm base. Lower the tonearm (carefully) so that it is parallel to the plinth when the record is playing. Tighten screw. Your height is probably fact...
Is it really night and day
A happy audiophile is not a shopping audiophile.
ARE YOU A " TRUE EXPERT AUDIOPHILE " ( T E A ) ???
I think we're already doing that.  Waxing philosophical about it is OK too.
ARE YOU A " TRUE EXPERT AUDIOPHILE " ( T E A ) ???
There is truth to be found in all of the answers.  Ultimately there is a talent involved that cannot be learned or taught.  That is genius.  Thinking that this thread can somehow make us all a genius is a flawed premise.  Good luck Raul.
ARE YOU A " TRUE EXPERT AUDIOPHILE " ( T E A ) ???
A true expert is how the world views you, not how you view yourself.  When you earn the respect of the audiophile community through your demonstrated knowledge and abilities, to the point that everyone admires your achievement and seeks your advic...
ARE YOU A " TRUE EXPERT AUDIOPHILE " ( T E A ) ???
Context is everything.  The only people that think I am an expert audiophile also think I am nuts.
Is the word 'Integrated' that hard to spell?
I buy from sellers with correct grammar and spelling.  Right or wrong, I feel better buying from someone smart enough to figure it out, even if it only involves a keystroke.
Audio Research PH6 Phono Stage - How is it?
I bought a  used PH-7, about $3k.  Noise is a non issue, even with a .28 mv cart like the DV XX2 MKII, although I did feel the dynamics were a bit restrained. It works great with a Cadenza Bronze .4 mv cart, no reservations.  Maybe try it, resell ...
Which has higher priority, overhang or VTA?
Hopefully you are resetting the VTF with the scale surface at record height, whenever you adjust the VTA on your unipivot arm.  If not, that is what you are most likely hearing.  Raising the arm will decrease the VTF while lowering the arm will in...
VPI Cartridge People: What next?
I have also gone from the XX-2 MKII to the Cadenza Bronze.  I like both carts for different reasons.  The DV sounds amazing on the right record and generally does a much better job on live recordings.  The Ortofon never reaches the ultimate height...
Phono cable question
I have used interconnects in the past without any problem.  I "moved up " to the VPI cable and was ... disappointed .. in its performance.  It's now in the garage system.  I would expect your Cardas IC's to outdo it in a shootout, blindfolded, usi...
Mint Tractor / Protractor for SME IV arm
About the MintIt’s very accurate. It’s very difficult to use. It works.I found out the hard way that the spindle to pivot distance must be dead on exact or the alignment will be off. At about 2 mm long the symptoms were: the stylus could not be ma...
Cartridge output 1.0mv to 65db gain phono, problem?
I have used a 1mv (.9mv measured) cart with my 57.5 dB gain phono pre.  The result was ok for mid to high level listening.  The software of the digital gain control induced a gain curve at the lowest volume settings, as does your preamp, that incr...
