Does alcohol impair appreciation of sound? When alcohol is mixed with music it's called a Party. Have fun, Anal-ysis is futile.
Turntable set up- How easy is it The most difficult thing I found was knowing what to listen for when I screwed things up, err, I mean made an adjustment. I'm not referring to gross break-up distortion. That's easy. It's how the many adjustments interact and how they relate to th...
Wacky Question about cartridges Benz Micro Glider was out about that time, at about that price.
Solder for ank legend monoblocks? I used Cardas on my Bottlehead gear. I don't know if it was worth it or not but I would hate to have used the cheap stuff and wondered forever if it was. It is worth the peace of mind for what is really the tiniest drop of money in this hobby.
Decreasing performance Stringreen -I used a Dremel with a wire wheel to clean up the blackened screws on my 3A Sigs and the difference is amazing. Thanks for the tip!Bill

Heimdall 2 vs. Frey 2 I have some experience with the original versions of Heimdall and Frey. The Frey was definitely a big improvement over the Heimdall, smoother and more substance. They were both too thin sounding in my slightly warm-side-of-neutral system so neithe...

stereo preamp $2-5K suggestions Be sure your speakers are set up the best they can be before upgrading anything. You might get some of that magic for free. My (3A Sig) mistakes were assuming the tilt back was the same because I used the same shims on each speaker. That was not t...
Vandersteen Treo vs 3A Sig as upgrade Other observations:The Treo central image (vocal) was very natural, a bit laid back behind the speakers, smaller than life size. The perspective was as if from a box seat above the stage, maybe five feet above the vocalist. Even though the actual ...
Vandersteen Treo vs 3A Sig as upgrade Onhwy61Agreed. People with super loud bikes, half helmets, no earplugs and no wind screen should not take extended rides on the freeway to do critical listening.
Vandersteen Treo vs 3A Sig as upgrade As far as rumbling motorcycles go, and audiophile helmets, for that matter, here is my set up. I have a Honda 1.3 liter, liquid cooled V-4 sport touring bike with stock Honda pipes. You can't hear the exhaust until you hit 80 mph. I sit behind an ...
Vandersteen Treo vs 3A Sig as upgrade Mr-m said:"I would like to listen to my Treos with a couple of Vandy subs ... I think that might alleviate some of the bass issues Wlutke talked about. That is if he would be so inclined to check it out. "I'm 6 1/2 hour round trip from checking th...
Vandersteen Treo vs 3A Sig as upgrade Ctsooner -I made a vague comment to Randy about the bass, not specific as to the quality or the quantity. His response was that the Treo was designed to be used up against a wall to reinforce the bass, and that they would have a bigger sound. They...
Vandersteen Treo vs 3A Sig as upgrade I just got back from another demo of the Treos at a different dealer. The first demo that I mentioned in my OP was sort of slapped together by my local dealer. The speakers were walked into an approximate triangle, Kinber 8TC hooked up as a bi-wir... |
